Test Scenario

In this test I recorded at 60fps with chat & scoreboard enabled. I have also used the BuildUHC kit, as it has the most variety in items and animations, to provide a worst-case scenario and give the interpolation a good stress test.

I have interpolated with rife at 2x, 3x, 4x, and 6x, and interpolated the rest to 1440 FPS with different SVP algorithms tested. 1440 FPS works best here as all of these different inputs and combinations are factors of 1440.

Logically algo 13 3x would be the most balanced between smoothness and artifacts, because algo 13 has less artifacts and is similar to 23 in smoothness, it is the most balanced because 6x/2x=3x (the minimum is 2x and the maximum is 6x) and obviously more interp fps = more smoothness, but more artifacts, so 2x would be the least artifacts but the least smooth, 6x would be the most artifacts but the smoothest, which means 3x is logically the best balance between artifacts and smoothness.

good analogy. do you believe algorithm 13 would benefit from a slower speed? as long as the rendering speed is comparable or better than 23 medium.

also keep in mind that despite the artifacts being less strong, they will still remain on screen for a similar amount of time, just with slightly different amounts of distortion

Maybe, slower speed generally means better artifacts (couldn't think of another way to word it better), but from the other #1075818914690375780 renders, they used faster speed algo 13. I think that medium speed algo 13 would have the best results, but not that much difference visually.
