I've been getting a lot of encoder lag recently, and it forces me to use really low quality presets even though my pc is able to handle the best presets

I have a 3060 ti and 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-12700KF 3.61 GHz cpu. Not necessarily experienced with OBS either. Any tips?

quick tip, don't know if you tried, but

disable Windows "Game Mode"

I personally can't record with OBS if i have GameMode ON

because it forbids obs to utilize my GPU fully

with Game Mode OFF i can record 240fps with an RX580 no problem

and I only record H265 codec

#

I make proxy files with ProRes format for my editing in DaVinci Resolve. That way I get sick quality while maintaining high speed editing at the same time

Hmm, then I would advise lowering encoding settings by a bit every time. Also try recording H265/HEVC, maybe it has better performance. On my RX580 I have 3x better recording performance with H265
