Example. Video recorded at 480 fps is not smooth at 1920x1080, while at 1280x720 it is very smooth

In order for you to make sure OBS does not lag while it's recording, you should make the Stats Dock shown, just like this:

It is prefered to have a second monitor so you are able to see how it's doing without having to alt tab (by having OBS on your second monitor)

It is normal to get a few dozens of skipped frames when alt tabbing
