by any chance you are using the minecraft bedrock launcher?

if thats the case, manually install the mc appx package for 1.12.1 & install it

Not sure exactly why it crashes I had the issue but it fixed itself at random, I suggest clearing com.mojang folders and seeing if that fixes it, sometimes mc spazzes out if u have certain packs enabled at startup

Bedrock is very goofy even someone like me struggles to fix things

Try closing anything that's open that could be hooking minecraft, like obs or shadowplay or rtss

Are you using the 64 bit version of 1.12.1? 32 bit version might not work

Yeah it's really weird um try uninstalling minecraft entirely from windows

Then install 1.12

So just click uninstall on minecraft like u would any other app

Keep In mind if u have packs worlds or skins to back them up

I mainly use bedrocklauncher, not mrarms version. Have you been trying to launch 1.12 from the bedrock launcher?

Yes that's what I did I just spammed it until it worked 😂
