Every time the game autosaves (5 minutes or so) my entire game freezes for usually around 30 seconds to a minute, and there have even been a few times where it crashes upon trying to autosave. However, whenever I do a manual save it only takes about 5 seconds and the game doesn't freeze at all. I don't really understand why there is such a difference between manual and autosaves, especially because usually there are not a lot of changes needing saving. I have quite a powerful computer, and my files are being saved on an SSD so I doubt that it is a hardware issue. Has anyone encountered this before or have a solution?
#Autosaves freeze the game and take significantly longer than manual saves

I've had a similar problem.
I think, I'm not sure, that the problem occurs when you try to do something while it saves. Like for example building a building or a segment. If you wait approximately 10 seconds, then at the top right the "packaging" text should have disappeared and you can do whatever you want
Are you running low on RAM availability though?
I've seen cases where (auto)saving crashes people's game
define powerful computer
ryzen 3700x, 3080 ti, 32gb 3600MHz ram
I've got 32 gigs, my game usually takes about 20 (i use a heavily modded game) and there's usually ~6 not in use
I haven't checked usage while autosaving though, that may spike causing the freezes
6 free or 6 being cached?
I’ve disabled autosaves entirely and instead just use the F1 hotkey for manually creating quicksaves instead whenever I do any work. I’d recommend you do something like that, it has pretty much obliterated the many crashing issues I used to have when I had autosave on. It needs a bit of training and you’ll need to periodically access your saves folder (like once a month or so) to delete some saves though, because it creates new saves every time you hit F1
But imo that’s a good thing cause you actually end up having backups if your save breaks!
