I don't really have experience in mass transit nor do I have the knowledge of how the cim AI behaves with public transport. I mainly need to solve the huge buildup of cims waiting in bus stations. Not really worried about cargo trains, though. Would also appreciate additional help with intercity trains.

i'd say you need a connection across the river, i'd do metro but a bus line would also work
also some lines leading directly to the airport
it's also probably a good idea to get more coverage with bus lines, i'm not sure how many you have but i don't see many of them

maybe a metro network like this would work?
it connects the major destinations (the office area, the campus, the industrial zone, the port, and airport to the high density neighborhoods
two of the red line stops on the right part could probably be removed
but this was you also have the ability to expand in the future
then, busses can roll around the surrounding neighborhoods and connect to the nearest metro station
and in the future, metro lines can be extended
just remembered that CS doesn't have good metro interchanges, this might be hard to do in vanilla

speaking about metro interchanges, can you recommend a good mod that overhauls the placement of train tracks? I also need to beautify existing tracks as well

i would add a path from the bottom yellow-red stop to the bus line above it for easier transfers
also i don’t use ferry’s but it might be worth it to move the bottom left stop a few blocks to better serve them
a bus spur might work too?
for the cargo trains i would recommend using separate tracks if you aren’t already
if you were to add a train route i’d probably run it from the ferries too the airport
the purple being ped paths so they don’t clog up traffic trying to cross
