like where are the most ideal places for city planners to be in
I guess this is a hard one to answer because it’s so subjective. Depending on what you’re interested in, determines which place is better
Some cities in Texas don’t use zoning, which makes for an interesting challenge for city planners.
Seattle and California have many and strict environmental laws that add extra complexity to our work.
You have older cities like Boston that have very old parts that are maintained for their historical value.
I can keep going and these are just iconic examples of what each poses for challenges and exciting parts for each planner to take on
Beyond slight nuances though, I’d argue that no matter what city you are planning for, it’s really all the same in terms of practice. The differences coming from the different decisions in code, historical planning decisions, and environmental/geographical nuances.
