Hello CPP Minions,

TL;DR: One file copy can fix DLSS.

With the release of NVIDIA driver 566.14 on Nov 12, 2024, DLSS was updated to 3.8.10.0. This version removes the legacy profiles A through D, leaving only profiles E (Quality/Balanced/Performance) and F (DLAA).

For more information on the new version: https://www.tomshardware.com/pc-components/gpus/nvidias-latest-dlss-3-8-10-version-features-only-two-presets-preset-e-and-preset-f-chipmaker-trimmed-the-dll-file-size-by-more-than-50-percent

With limited testing, 100% of the people that tried this, saw success in eliminating DLSS ghosting, shadow flicker, and in some cases a couple of extra FPS in CS:2.

If you've updated your NVIDIA drivers to 566.14 or newer, you already have a copy of the DLL (nvngx_dlss.dll), but need to place it in your root folder for CS:2. Always make a backup copy of the developer distributed version first.

I found the DLL by searching for "nvngx_dlss.dll" in C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\. You can confirm the file version by checking the property details tab for (see attached). You can also download it from a commonly used archive here: https://www.techpowerup.com/download/nvidia-dlss-dll/

For me, it had to be copied to: D:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\Cities Skylines II

Note: Future game updates are likely to overwrite this file, so you will need to re-copy.

I have my DLSS set to Maximum Quality on a 2060, but other settings may work just as well.

If this works for you, please share your experience below and link this post for others to do the same. Other games that include their own copy of the nvngx_dlss.dll can also be updated in the same way, at your discretion.

Enjoy!
