I don't think ive seen this suggestion, but I do apologize if im repeating an old idea.
In CPP's videos, there is the small bit of background and story that will dictate how that episodes build will proceed.
My suggestion is to have a channel where a dedicated writer or writers will post a bit of story similar to the ones seen in the CPP videos, and members of the server will create their builds based off of that story. We could all then share screenshots and discuss amongst one another about how we responded to the problems and ideas presented by that bit of story.
It would be a fun community event that gets everyone sharing their builds and comparing creative city building ideas.
For the more technical details such as
how often would the pieces of story be put out? (monthly, weekly, daily?)
who would be the writers? (one dedicated person, a team of community members, shifting out volunteers?)
what would the map be and should everyone play on one dedicated map?
should there be restrictions on mods or even requirements on mods?
I think these are all questions that would best be answered by the participating community members and moderation team, not by me.
What I envision when writing this is something like
Event announcement channel posts that weeks story
throughout the week, anyone that wants to participate can check into the channel and see the new story bit
people post their builds that they made based on the story into a second channel made for event discussion
what's nice about this is that its not a dedicated competition that people either are or aren't apart of, its an occasionally updated story that people can use as a guideline for their builds, and then share with others to compare ideas.
if you miss a week or join late? that's fine, the posts will still be there for you to pick up where you left off, or to catch up with everyone else.
