The Makyr project is an experimental worldbuilding series where I will be developing the fictional Republic of Makyr, starting in Cities: Skylines but eventually (hopefully) expanding into other games such as Arma 4.
Makyr is a small archipelago nation to the Northwest of Sumatra, Indonesia. Speaking primarily English and the native language of Golvai, Makyr is a melting pot of European and local peoples—The native Golva people, English, Dutch, Spanish, and a variety of immigrants both from within the region and around the world. The country is a liberal democracy with a strong social safety net, and is a federal union between the mostly European northern islands and the mostly Golva southern island. Western-aligned but not part of any large formal alliance, Makyr is under pressure from many of its neighbors—its strategic location near the Malacca strait has brought it into the sights of China, as well as an unpredictable Indonesia and an increasingly authoritarian India.
In the C:S segment, I'll be creating the map and built areas, trying to build a place with a realistic history, but also a touch of fantastic "rule of cool". Since I'll be livestreaming the process, I'm opening the series to light roleplaying, with viewers, taking the role of different stakeholders within Makyr to shape the development history of the island, starting in the 1800s and playing into the 2030s.
