Those houses need to be fenced in, because they absolutely would be. Like Phil said bluntly: they are Nimbys. In this case it would be a very literal Not In My Backyard, they want privacy and to keep people from shortcutting through and using their land.
It might seem out of place but the tall oil industry (?) fence would be a stand in for a high security privacy fencing. (Just have to imagine that they cover the inside of it with vines or bamboo)

I like this idea. If nothing else it would mark out the land holdings which would be important for both sides. Personally I’d probably go with the Forestry Fence as I think it’s suit the aesthetic more and has that sort of “white picket” idea (if perhaps a bit taller), but in more bamboo colours.

Forestry fence would be infinitely better than the ugly oil industry fence lol.
Sure it's taller by a tiny bit but it really doesn't matter much especially when you have many very tall buildings nearby, the vertical scale feels more smushed so the tiny bit of extra height on the oil fences doesn't matter imo. On top of that the forestry fence is a solid fence, which gives actual privacy instead of just making sure nobody trespasses. On the plus side it absolutely looks like a real fence that would actually be used for a house, versus the oil fence being... well what it is, which is horribly unrealistic for a house

definitely.. having your house next to a massive hospital and parking lot, anyone would want a fence
