Earlier, I saw a video by EYstreem of the before-and-after of the Warden and how axolotls might be baby versions of Minecraft Wardens. Taking information from EYstreem’s video on the before-and-after of the Minecraft Warden, 2 theories suggests that the axolotl and Warden maybe related to each other:

  • When you spawn the Warden and 6 random mobs (the axolotl being 1 of the 6 randomly selected mobs) in the Ancient City, the Warden will go on a rampage to slay all the mobs you spawned in but will spare the axolotl. Although the axolotl may makes sounds that will attract the Warden, the Warden will not attack the cute reptile when it goes to it.
  • Using a photo editor app or software, when you Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V the images of the Minecraft Warden and Minecraft axolotl from Google Images, you may notice the similarity that Wardens and axolotls have by color inversion. In the video, EY goes to show a picture his so-called friend who works for Mojang gave to him as a letter in secret, since this Warden-axolotl relationship is believed to be confidential to Mojang. When you compare the original image to the image color-inverted, you can see that the Warden will have the colors of the axolotl and vice versa with the axolotl having colors of the Warden.

If Axolotls and Wardens do have a connection, we don't know how or why at this time

The one connection they really would have- Glow Berries- is pretty weak since it's found in 3/4 underground structures (incl. trial chambers) so it hardly seems special

Maybe the warden is some type of skulk golem of some sorts. The basis of it was most likely the axolotls, thats why their so similar. But also, it may just be a coincidence. The only really thing we have to go off of it the design, not the color. I say this because i don't think the whole skulk thing was made with the intention of being similar to the axolotls, maybe just the design of the warden.
