It seems like mojang is going to use armor trimming as uniforms for the pillagers and the woodland mansions. If the trimmings are uniforms then there are several unidentified armies such as the eye, rib, coast, wild, dune, spier, tide, ward, and Snout. Pretty sure Snout belongs to the piglins though. This thread is devoted to guessing who wore said armor.

i dont think it's a lore thing to be able to color trim armor honestly
it's probably more of a customizing feature
cause we've never been able to customize armor besides coloured leather armor
so i feel like armor trims are probably just there to allow us to customize our clothes

minecraft is a exploration/sandbox/loneliness simulator with a sprinkling of lore, dungeons is a dungeon crawler with story elements
they're different games, they can't have the same story

It also says head cannon which I think means we can be creative like maybe the eye army is a taskforce responding to the emergence of the ender dragon
Or maybe the eye army sealed the portal placing the dragon because of was with the spire civilization
Which would be more plausible?
