Where theory ?
the theory is that there is no theory
I've had a thought lingering in my mind, and it's to do with the runes. I found that each rune symbolises a specific type of item.
Let me begin.
Rune U: This rune symbolises animals and pet usage. I've noticed this pop up on Hunting Bows (because of the common trait), Soul Lantern pet, Golem Kit, Tasty Bone, Wolf Armour (damage boost aura and potion support), Bee Stinger (Busy Bee Enchantment) and Buzzy Nest. Essentially, all pet items seem to have this rune.
Rune C: This rune represents mobility, speed and rolling. You can see this rune on Living Vines Armour (the poison roll effect and acrobat enchantment), Black Wolf Armour (Acrobat Enchantment), Shadow Walker, Ghost Cloak, Feather and Boots (because all of them involve mobility if you think about it). It pops up on Maulers and Fighter's Bindings, since both have faster attack speed, Dancer's Sword because of the unique effect and the Tempest Knives, due to them having the Rushdown speed buff. It also pops up on Shortbows because they're known for being fast, nimble weapons.
Rune O: This rune pertains to the soul items. You may have noticed that the only bows that have this rune are soul bows and soul crossbows. Because both are related to souls, they are entitled to this rune. It pops up on Soul Armour too like Souldancer Robe, and soul artifacts like Soul Healer and Corrupted Beacon have this rune too.
Rune S: This rune symbolises the elements, and co-op utility. You will notice this pops up on armours with an aura, like the Renegade Armour to provide your friends damage boost aura, Wither Armour to give them lifesteal, Hero's Armour to heal. Freezing, fire, poison and lightning weapons have this.
Rune R: This rune represents archery. Most bows have this, and armours that provide ranged support have this rune too like Archer's pelt.
Mm
So... no connection to the actual letters of the runes
cool...
Rune I: This rune symbolises frontline damage dealing. Scatter Crossbows have this because the extra projectiles is more useful up close, and almost all melee weapons have this rune. Armours to boost melee damage have this too, like Full Metal Armour and Splendid Robe. It pops up on melee artifacts as well like Death Cap Mushroom.
Rune P: This rune represents mystery and rarity, all daily trial items (the rarest items in the game) like Ghost Kindler and Soul Hunter Crossbow have this rune and Mystery Armour seems to have it too. Not much about this rune, since it pops up on the least items in the game.
Rune T: This rune represents general and frontline defence and damage reduction. Almost every armour has this rune, and all the tankier armourpieces have this as well. You'll also notice Iron Hide Amulet and Ghost Cloak have this rune, since both give damage absorption. Harp and Lightning Harps have this rune since the damage helps you kill mobs in front of you, thus keeping you alive more.
Rune A: This rune, much like Rune S represents utility, except it is purely for aritfact utility and miscellaneous uses. Enchanter's Tome has this, as well as the non-soul damage artifacts have this rune too, like Satchel of Elements.
