Killed three generals with one shot of a catapult. It was a recent too. In mediaval total war II playing as the Sicilians.
Probably when i held the line with some fuedal knights in a castle in italy. Hordes of enemies.
They where max upgraded so it looked great. I loved looking at these kinds of fights. Just immersing yourself in the action.
One of the most amazing features of medieval 2. Is the tiered upgrade system that you can see visually.
Or when i played the medieval 2 Lotr Mod and had to stand against the armies of mordor. (Hint please make a Lotr total war)
One time Milan betrayed me
Oh i remember that time in didnt know about the mongol invasion as the byzantines. I had secured the east. But left no garrison. That was painfull..
That time I had a 10 dread general with a half stack of Mailed/Feudal Knights rush over to Venice to relieve a siege. As soon as they made contact the entire enemy army (Sicily iirc) broke and ran, it was like the Rohirrim at Helm's Deep
Way back in high school, some friends and I were playing the Teutonic campaign hotseat. One of them was defending a motte and bailey from the Order.
Upon my suggestion, he put his general on the central hill for protection. "They won't get him up there," I assured him. The literal first fiery boulder from those blasted catapults hit his general square in the face.
He was not, in fact, "safe up there"
That time when I played English in Med 2 and set up a heavy foot soldier army with archers and played the battle for like 2 minutes then I went to eat dinner....turns out I forgot to pause the game and my units won the battle for me without my command.
First time I recorded for the channel was intense and I had no idea where it would bring me so many years past:) Was nice to play Total War and share it with others
I drove the Austrians back so quickly they started a war with France, pulled their armies away front their front with me and conquered all of it just to get away from me
Playing as the Moors and repelling an entire siege with just a few units of spearmen+archers.
The huns made the mistake of only having horses and/or siege weapons, so it was just a matter of cramming my spears in the doorway.
but it was fun
When I was a kid the kingdom’s expansion came out I saw it at Walmart and I had to have it, so I asked for it for Christmas and come Christmas Day I got it. I was so happy that I wanted to install it immediately, but to little me’s horror I realized a very hard truth about pc games at the time. I needed the base game to play the expansion, I did not know expansions were a thing at all. I was so sad but my parents could not get the base game at the time so I spent the last few weeks looking at the back of the box and making the best battles in my head day and night. When the day came and I finally got medieval 2 it was the best time of my life.
I have only just started Thrones of Brittania in the past couple weeks (have many hours in other TW), but I would have to say my favorite moments so far are when I unleash an unfair barrage of archers and catapults at the enemy while they are standing on their walls. The fire above and the ground leaving their feet. Satisfying for me but terrifying for them! lol
The mechanics and roleplay within medieval 2 total war, how you could make an insignificant general a badass and it felt like there was more character. Generally the campaign map was at Its peak mechanically and I miss that a lot, I still play it today and make many memorable memories unlike some of the later titles
Recruitment pools were such an amazing mechanic. Balanced out elite spams super well. You just had to roll with whatever you had available
Yeah I agree having to use what u have not what u want makes a huge difference in campaign planing and made me use way more different approaches to many situations would love this feature to comeback
When I turned up on my first day to work at creative assembly and started a game as Scotland was pretty special. But seeing my Teutonic knights campaign get rave reviews was great too.
Restored Roman Empire
I remember making a shield with the Spanish symbol from Medieval (the first one) as a kid, I think I was playing that game at least as early as kindergarten.
The strategic freedom of Medieval 1 remains one of my peak experiences with Total War.
I played as Denmark, and truly went a-viking. Raiding coastal settlements for profit and establishing small colonies in quiet regions was tremendously effective and satisfying, making me wealthy and giving me the freedom to experiment, without ever getting involved in the bulk conquest grind and feeling that 4x fatigue. That and the agents, and the 'planning table' aesthetic made it my favourite overall total war so far, despite the purity of Shogun 2, the naval battles of Empire, or the monsters of Total Warhammer.
I am a M2TW lover who is currently compiling the biggest grand campaign guide ever (I think) because I love the game so much. I have so many thrilling and satisfying memories. Some of the best were:
Bribing a Timurid general to join my faction for 2 million florins, then hiring mercenary elephants and horse archers. Using this general and his army to kill Timur himself in Antioch, with elephants clashing with each other in the street. Close but epic victory.
Also 0 defeats Americas expansion campaign as New Spain, my first ever play of the campaign. Took the whole map without suffering a single defeat. Cortes was still alive at the end of the game; 62 and with full dread.
