I recently started my D20 journey and have raised 3 digimon now that have just up and died for no reason i can figure out. They weren't starving, they had maybe 2 or 3 care mistakes over the course of several days, they weren't injured from battle, i cleaned up their poop before they got sick, and i made sure to tuck them in every night. And yet, out of no where, I'll suddenly hear the death song and my precious children will pass on. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

It's because they had 5 or more care mistakes after being in thier current form long enough
You may have not realized that you got them, but that's what's happening

Those sneaky little devils really do just try to die, I was topping off my most recent one atleast every hour! But I'll try to be more attentive, thanks for the explanation!
I guess two follow up questions;
- how often would y'all say is best to check on them?
- Do they normally do a call before the final death song? Maybe I've just toned it out 🤷

- Once an hour will usually keep you safe
- This depends. If the 5th care mistake occurred after the 48 hour window, then that call will happen like normal and then 10 minutes later it will die if unattended. If the 5th care mistake happened before that window, there will be no additional call, it will immediately start dying once it hits that time.
