not that im aware of
Probably the IC is shorting
One of my pen20 used to short out because i did something wrong while modding it.
It doesn’t hold any saves until i resoldered all the smd and IC
Maybe you can try opening it up and cleaning all the contacts with 99% ipa.
Could be just dust bridging the contacts and causing the short to the IC.
hmm yeah gotta go get me the IPA
This happens when i try to change, and it does happen quite constanly
This is unfortunately a known issue with the Pend20. If the device gets a sudden loss of power, it can wipe the save data.
So suddenly removing the battery can do this.
What is recommended is to press the reset button. This makes a save and isn't using the active program of the device. You can now remove the battery and replace it. Then press reset again before continuing your progress. Doing this should lower the change of wiping the data.
Press the reset button.
I hope it's the lighting but the screen does look faint.
This is why we press reset when we replace the battery.
The old turn it off and on again.
i think i was just paranoid haha.cause my other device didnt have this issue, and suddenly both my pen20 have this
yeah its very faint when it seems like i didnt place the battery properly?
Some Pend20 devices are more susceptible to loosing data. I've only ever had it once and that was my fault for leaving a dead battery in the device.
man seems like the pen20 devices are quite troublesome huh
It's either a weak battery, or if the device has been opened, the screws aren't tight enough. If you gently squeeze the device, does it improve?
They weren't allowed to be too prefect. Lol
The lag and the loss of data saves can be annoying/problematic.
squeezing dont really work
i changed it to a new battery so doubt so
not sure if it has been opened, i bought both used from surugaya
What brand?
panasonic
Ok, so not a no name cheap battery.
There can be the chance that the previous owner may have opened it and tried to mod it.
But if the screen doesn't bother you or if you haven't had much experience opening devices, I'd leave it tbh.
pressing the reset button after i see the jumbled up text seems to work
Here is an old pic from mine. The screen contrast should look like this.
my only worry was what i purchased was like faulty
yeah mine looks like that when it works
Having to press reset is normal and recommended to do with all devices when the battery is replaced. Just in case.
Ok, it must have just been the photo.
no um how do I explain it
ok when i remove and place the battery in, i either get the actual digimon 20 screen
or i get this lighter version or random digimons or just patches of black dot
Actually, the plural of Digimon is Pokémon.
Yes. That is a known issue.
Like I said. Pressing reset usally fixes this issue.
And I follow what you mean.
hmm okie
i suppose i dont have to be worried that the condition of both device is bad right?
If that happens, it's unfortunately normal and nothing to worry about
haha thats true
at least i have it as part of my collection, eventhough might be faulty
thanks alot spirit! really appreciate it
No worries. It's a great device and 1 of my favourites. But it does have It's issues. It was almost the prefect device.
yeah it was kinda hard getting them, had to pay quite alot
the con of getting into the hobby too late
They shot up in price once it was commen knowledge that they could be modded and have all 4 versions on 1 device. And unfortunately they stayed expensive.
yeah i paid like 25kyen each.
on hindsight was a bad purchase, but i really wanted it to complete my collection
so with them i have two device per generation at least
so i didn't have to open up my device if this happened. damn.
