Hey guys, sharing some of the pictures from my penC custom experience.
The board is a WGu penC board and the firmware is a modded MEm firmware.
I just swapped the shell with a resin printed clear case.

I will probably be updating this album here and there and anyone is welcome to share their pictures of their custom pendulums too. Thanks in advanced for sharing your creations.

how's the quality of the shell? i wanted to print this but have not pulled the trigger yet. did you buy a new piezo speaker for this?

@devout palm, Im very satisfied with it soo far and i did’t buy the piezo speaker, i just removed the speaker from the original shell and taped it to the back. Its still very loud.

#

You can still see the print lines but thats only if you inspect it very closely.

#

I’d personally add a little tab where i circled on the back here on the image above to prevent from the prongs being pushed in soo much but it still works well as is.

#

The only thing left for this penC to be considered complete is when i figure out how to modify the evolution routes and jogress requirement and results.

@azure plover has leveled up! (9 ➜ 10)

The roster that i designed kinda works with the original jogress lines and also natural evo requirements from the MEm dump i used. Only need to tweak 2 lines if i remember correctly.

I’ve discovered a few issues with the backing on this shell mod i did. The edges on mine are smushed and are just holding on by the pressure alone. I’ve since swapped it with an FDM printed backing.

#

It might be due to me just being paranoid and screwing it in like crazy. But if you wanna print this from jlcpcb in 8001 transparent resin, screw it in gently, and stop when there is resistance.

#

It’s pretty easy to smoosh those edges. Since resin isn’t the hardest material after curing and drying.

#

Here’s how the translucent one looks like. I printed 5 of these and am planning on painting them.

The feel is kinda oily at first but after that it’s just like plastic.

I'll just wash it haha

Swapped out the transparent shell with a translucent one. I think this looks better and the feel is just better after some light sanding and smoothing.

#

Now i just need to find a way to make the buttons.

My pendulum color case printed by jlcpcb arrived.

#

So far, i am very satisfied with the print quality

So i’ve noticed a few things about this case.

  1. It’s not a snug fit. Thats fine btw since you’d want some leeway for it to be durable and it’ll protect your vpets from accidental drops better that way.

  2. Its much bulkier than just holding the pendulum color by itself. I think its much more satisfying to hold it as an adult.

  3. I would really recommend people to add the metal sheet up top so that you’d have an easier time connecting to others.

If you dont like the rattle. 1mm thickness eva foam does wonders.
