Something similar was happening to me. Here are some solutions/ results

It does take much longer for NFC on the BE to initialize. Best you can do is actually wait until it says "touch" before you tap it with the app

Also, make sure to figure out where the NFC antenna is on your phone. Sometimes cases can also cause issues
