Hello everyone.

I am having a huge problem with my Legion. That has me very stressed because is my tool i use for my animation job and personal projects.

Last week out of nowhere the fans of one of the fans started making a very weird sound. Very loud, maybe like something was stuck inside. Or could not spin well.
I opened it and I only found a tiny piece if plastic lying around. I thought it might have been that. Closed it and kept working for a few days.
But yesterday it happened again. This time i opened it and also took out the thermal module to inspect it. This time I found a a loose sticker (those random ones that go inside with part number or something. And that the screw of one of the ssd was out. I thought it was definetly that. Closed and and worked again.

Today it Happened AGAIN! same procedure and the only thing i could see is that the screw that holds i think the wifi card? Was missing. I searched everywhere disasebled everything that I am confortable doing like the thermal module and battery to see if I could find the screw but nothing.
Closed it and 30 mins later the same noise again.

I don’t know what it can be. If it’t that missing screw I don’t know what to do because i have opened it 3 times and found nothing and having a loose screw going around isnide the laptop can’t be good.
If it’s something else I don’t know what i can be.
Also the weird thing is that I have’t touched those screws that popes out. I only open it to clean the fans and change thermal paste.

Here I attach a picture of the missing screw and a video with the sound.

Thank you so much for your help!

As far as the screw, if they aren’t secured in there they can vibrate out

#

Nevertheless, nothing to troubleshoot. You need a new fan

#

Or at the very least, maybe just clean them. Idk why you wouldn’t clean them when you removed the heatsink.

Yep. They still have some dust but is the one that just stay sticked. Not amount of compressed air takes itnout

#

Here with open fan

#

It aeems to spin normally. I don’t know what it can be

This is how they spin

#

They aren’t something you fix

#

You replace them

#

So, again, you need to buy a new fan

#

Sorry if that’s not what you want to hear, but that’s the solution.

#

So if you have warranty, you can use that to get a new heatsink

#

If you don’t you can buy a whole new heatsink or you can try searching google for a replacement fan. That’s hit or miss. Lenovo doesn’t sell individual fans

Ok thank you so much.
I will see what I can do.
Is it a problem to have it running? Because i need to copy some files as backup

#

But i always immediately turn it off when it starts sounding
