Issue:

#

Ask me any questions, I'll provide the best that I can.

#

So that I could at least use more than 1 hour of battery use.

#

Was it same behavior/power draw prior to tweaking it?

sleek moat
#

But the first time I own this laptop with no tweaks attached it is exactly the same (Around -30 to -40w).

#

The second time I clean install, I reached -15w but I forgot what did I do.

#

The third time (this one) it seems to go back to stock.

@sleek moat A possible culprit might be the nvcleanstall(or just nvidia silliness), have you properly installed the optimus component? Also did you try using a non tweakned nvcleanstalled driver?

#

your power draw lines up with a gpu being "disabled" but still drawing power because it's not properly turned off from the board

#

First thing i suggest is try setting nvidia control panel power management at normal/default then see if problem persists(just in case if there's high perf turned on)
Second you shall reinstall with nvcleanstall the gpu driver making sure that optimus is ticked
If that doesn't work either i suggest you try doing a non-tweaked nvidia driver straight from their website also it might be worth doing an EC reset

#

If all fails completely DDU the gpu driver and do a normal install

#

Checked with hwinfo.

#

Just do what i said, i had the similar issue yes it might be reporting 0W it's turned off software wise but the connection to the motherboard it's not severed, the circuit still draws power

#

might be stuck in a d3-cold instead of being powered off

#

for refference

sleek moat
#

Will do.

#

@woven sapphire LET ME KISS YOU IN THE LIPS!

#

Fixes the problem, it may be not back to -15w level but heck it's a lot better than -45w

#

Lova you thanks.

woven sapphire
#

How far down the list did you go

#

Glad it worked out

#

Did you redo the nvcleanstall or did you install the driver as is from nvidia

woven sapphire
#

Aight

sleek moat
#

After DDU ofc.

Will note that just in case people experience this

sleek moat

Going to save that info to my head.

#

yeah, i already said that it made no sense that CPU draws 9W, nothin else draws 30+W but it shows 45W

optimus

sleek moat
#

I mean I tick optimus.

#

not sure if it needs to be ticked at all

sleek moat
woven sapphire
#

In theory it should be ticked on but i had that fail me in the past sometimes

#

No video drivers are just dumb as ghost said i'm not even sure if it's needed anymore on rtx..

#

Once some actual decent driver comes out i'll test that again

sleek moat
#

Alr, I'm going back to oem intel driver.

#

This new one draws more watt like 4w

#

Thanks once again.
