Loq 15aph8: Random network drops on both ethernet and wireless.

Got the laptop yesterday. Connection on ethernet will randomly drop when playing games. Taskbar icon will show no internet then connect to wifi and then back to ethernet. The network runs fine on my older laptop. Can't send back the laptop since I had shipped from USA to another country by a friend.

I reinstalled the latest drivers.

Turned off network boost and wifi security on lenovo vantage.

Disabled the "Allow the computer to turn off device" setting on the device manger.

But the problem still persists.

What wifi card do u have?

also did u install drivers from the lenovo website?

It's a realtek wifi card and realtek lan adapter

I have seen the common advice here is to replace the wifi card to an intel ax200 or higher

But would that fix the lan issue too?

im not sure if wifi card will interfere with ethernet, but Realtek cards suck

Not yet, I've only had the laptop for two days. I wanted to treat that like a last resort

I seem to have fixed the issue

1. Go to device manager on control panel

2. Expand network adapters, right click on adapter and click properties

3. Check the details tab to check driver date

I found out the ethernet driver was one year old

4. Visit the official driver site, that was realtek for me and download and install latest driver

5. Restart laptop

My wifi driver is also out-of-date I will follow similar steps to upgrade/fix

Note: You have to get the driver yourself from the driver website. Attempting to use the lenovo website or update driver option on properties WILL NOT update the driver.
