@winter patrol it sounds like you have a problem with Fast Startup

Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options > System Settings --> Change settings that are currently unavailable --> untick turn on fast startup

Maybe, but it causes issues for some people

And it doesnt really "speed up" your boot time

It achieve that by putting all of the current OS data save it onto the SSD and shut your laptop down

Whenever u boot it up the data configuration get loaded from the SSD again
