I recently purchased a refurbished Lenovo Legion 7i 16ITHg6 i9-11980HK 3080 16gb.

Everything works great, but it only came with one stick of 32gb TeamGroup CL22-22-22-52 RAM in the second slot.

I tried upgrading to two sticks of 16gb Kingston Fury KF432S20IB1K2/32 that is often recommended here. The RAM is recognized by the system (https://postimg.cc/Cd0wQhdw), but is unstable under any sort of load such as a quick TS bench test. Windows memory diagnostics quickly gives a hardware failure message.

Is there any configuration I have to do, BIOS or otherwise to get this RAM to work properly? Or is this simply hardware/RAM failure?

After extensive searching of previous threads, I couldn't find anything that would lead me to believe I have to do anything other than plug and play.

I tried :

  • Two sticks together, 1 in each slot.
  • Each stick separately in each of the slots.
  • Cleaning the pins with an eraser
  • My current stick in each slot (this is fine)

Thanks for any help you can offer!

Well return the ram and replace

Or better just buy another 32gb single stick teamgroup dimm
