Model: Legion 7i (16IAX7 - Type 82TD)
Describe the issue: Received my Legion 7i on Monday and have been having intermittent issues and instability. I have also identified that I am receiving WHEA event 17 errors which seem to stem from the graphics card as well as the SSD.
For example:
- Waking from the display turning on made the Nvidia control panel freeze and required a reboot
- Trying to run Elden Ring produced an error from the Nvidia container (can't remember exactly what it was, think it was a can't switch display error despite only using the laptop screen) then after closing it the laptop froze and produced a black screen
- Booting into safe mode with networking had the explorer constantly crash until I was able to get it out of safe mode
What have you tried already?: First I tried to update all my drivers including the GPU driver. After updating to the latest version that came out yesterday I was having issues where bringing up the desktop context menu which would hang and I could no longer interact with the desktop. I used DDU to install the previous Nvidia drivers and no longer had that issue. Things seemed mostly fine but I still got the WHEA 17 errors from the PCIE devices so I tried changing the power plan settings that I saw fixed it for others but to no avail. I then tried to reinstall windows and after a clean install with Lenovo's Windows 11 image things seem okay but the WHEA error still triggers every time I turn on the laptop or use MSI afterburner. I have not used the laptop enough after the reinstall to have a final word on the stability but I'm just not sure if this is something to worry about or if it is a driver issue that all the Legion 7i's have.
When did it start producing the issue: As soon as I got it
Did you install new drivers or software?: See above, All drivers updated/clean Windows install then driver updates again
Can you provide images/videos to show us the issue:
