#Arena Gauntlet Levi Rank Change - Tiered vertical System instead of current 1200 up/down

Now that Gauntlet has transitioned over to Leviathan Gauntlet as standard it is important to change how players progress.

The current system starting at 1200 is horrible for new players or players with low tpi/level illuvials.

In order to create a conducive environment for both new and experienced players a tiered level/arena/rank system should be made where EVERYONE starts at zero and progresses to higher arenas. That way new players/low level illuvial players fight it out in lower arenas and level up to get to the next arena... while higher level players can progress quickly to their appropriate difficulty level arena with equivalent players (and bots)

Bots can be tweaked to the difficulty level of the various arenas players are in.

Arena 1 - Everyone Starts at zero
Arena 2 - 500 rank pts
Arena 3 - 1000 rank pts
Arena 4 - 1500 rank pts
Arena 5 - 2000 + highest arena (for now) (Qualify for leaderboard)

Players cannot fall below the bottom of the rank of the current level arena they are in... thus creating an achievement threshold and sense of accomplishment when achieveing the next arena. More arena levels can be added as new players come in.

I like it.

I feel we already have such a system with the Masters, diamond, gold, bronze divisions.
Matchmaking just would have to be more restrictive so one can actually play for example just against players out of his division and maybe the one division above or below him.
Once you reach gold, you can't get lower anymore, just the seasonal reset can put you down a league again.
I think that's pretty much how tft works aswell.
Can then also make bots- stats/level according to the league.

I guess it would be a better experience, but it would introduce also that currently more bots are in your lobby which most people don't like.

Yes those labels are fine…
Bronze, silver, gold, platinum diamond, etc…

The key is starting from zero and hitting those tier thresholds without falling below and creating brackets that are clustered.

I’d remove the I, II, III and just kep it bronze, silver, gold, etc… so there are 5 or 6

Currently u can fall down to like 400 and you are still matched with 2000 elo players… it’s terrible for new players bro.. and for experienced players.

This system is better for everyone

Could be hybrid… where a bracket is say silver I, II, III but all within the 500-1000 range. You can fall to 500 but no lower… and within that bracket you can achieve the different silver markers.

The main idea is to cluster sensible players together. Since player base is low can’t really create lots of separate brackets. Sensibly 5 is good for now until patterns grows.

Most newbies will fall into the bronze/silver and work their way up through other newbies and bots and level up their illuvials with like competition.

Currently it’s terrible the range that exists in lobbies. Bots can be tuned to the correct level too so things aren’t so extreme as they are now.

After the ranked arena switched to Levithan, it's quite clear that Bots needs a little help. But I think we can use the Bot strengths to support a system like you have proposed here. Simply by adjusting the Bot’s Strengths (stats/level), so it could look something like this:

Rank 0 - 1500 - Bots don't get any adjustment to stats/level.

Rank 1500 - 1800 - Bots get adjusted with:
10% to all stats
Stage 1: level 10
Stage 2: level 20
Stage 3: level 40

Rank 1800+ Bots get adjusted with:
30% to all stats
Stage 1: level 30
Stage 2: level 40
Stage 3: level 50

This means that players without owning Illuvials will be able to play against Bots up to rank 1500, but after that will start to struggle a bit if not owning anything, but can do ok if getting a few good ones to create a deck. but will need an even stronger deck to progress above 1800.

The ranger also needs a bit of help, and it would be nice if increasing the power of the ranger follows the player rating, so as you gain higher rank and meet stronger players and Bots, your ranger also becomes stronger.

So one benefit of having a floor for rank is that u can try new builds and experiment without losing rank. If you are at say 1000 and you just cant climb higher you may want to try new things… punishing experimentation isn’t healthy.

Clash royale does it this way and I very much appreciate it.

People with skill will move up regardless. And if bots increase in difficulty level within then that will also help prevent easy climb when there are not many players.

I think it is essential to make some changes to how Arena works and how we incentivize people to play, while making ownership matter to create a more healthy ecosystem.

Leviathan Arena is finally the ranked mode, as it probably should have been from the beginning. If we make a “tiered system” like suggested here, and also adjust Bot’s power according to player rating on the leaderboard. I think It can actually co-exist fine with the “F2P” players, but to achieve high ranks you obviously have to invest and own a good deck.

Ranked Leaderboard should only reward players with Fuel, items that can be used in game like “XP boosts”, and with cosmetics like a “season profile boarder” or drone skin. (Token or $$ is not a good idea for leaderboard, and should be for tournaments only). Rewards should be based on active players. (like it was changed to at the end of the season), but it should reward a lot more players with a smaller amount of fuel. (I am thinking top 1000, again based on active player numbers). Multi-accounting should also be less of an issue, since you can't really transfer fuel, and the “xp boosts”/cosmetics could be made account bound. might also consider making the rewards monthly instead of weekly.

Tournaments are great for showing off the game, and can be a great tool for marketing the game, and be a goal for active players to strive for, with a decent prize pool. but I think it's important to reward a bigger number of participants with a smaller size reward as well. (if people know they don't have a chance to win any of the prizes, many will choose not to participate at all). Bigger Tournaments should also not be a weekly event, but rather a monthly or even quarterly event. I think the IPL had many people suffer for “burn out” in the end from running every weekend. (smaller sit&go events could be something to do in-between).

Ascendant and Survival mode is important to get added, and I would even say they should be implemented before the mobile version is launched. It would be so much more impactful to have these as it would appeal to a much broader audience, especially on a mobile version.

Revenue will come from people spending on getting stronger Illuvials, battle pass, buying “XP boost” and in time the cosmetics.
