#Too many pets action

I think everyone running around with their pets is not the most optimal way to involve illuvials into the MMO. Especially considering how large they are. It is going to create too much clutter and take away our focus from gameplay. Might as well allow for more players in rather than all these pets running around with their flashy animations.

It's probably too late for any changes now, but I think it would be much better if each illuvial represents an ability/spell in the MMO.

Each spell would then have 3 levels/stages - that are taken from each stage of illuvial. Each level/stage of the spell takes the stats/tpi of it's respective illuvial.

We can then do different ability rotations this way. Finishing the full stage 1,2,3 rotation (always starts from the lowest one) of an ability and doing the full rotation grants you an element, depending on the type of ability/illuvial used.

Upon collecting enough elements throughout our rotations, we can summon an illuvial (any, based on what abilities we chose to use).

We can then incorporate all of our illuvials into the gameplay, rather than just a static one that follows us around, and summon different ones based on encounter needs and what our build is, temporarily.

It is also going to create an incentive to go after all illuvials, of all stages, and go after good tpi ones.

Considering the MMO will mainly be pve, a bit of p2w wouldn't be a problem.

This would also scale very well with https://discord.com/channels/760344898200666112/1436815138639446126

It sounds interesting
Having our illuvials following us would be cool but resource intensive, with your solution we would have lower spec requirements

If we have to leave someone at home because it is too busy I would prefer to leave home the Rangers and play as Illuvials. I am only here for the Illuvials. It is what makes the game different than the rest.

The idea is to keep both. We are not getting rid of the illuvials - they will just not stay with us the entire time - that will get boring quickly trust me.

I've played a hunter in WoW for the first 3 expansions, and managing one pet at all times can be annoying. Stuck in corners, walls and other environments. When I imagine 10-25 pets running around in combat, it will be a hot mess and create unnecessary clutter in big encounters.

With this suggestion, we will still summon and utilize our illuvials - they will just be summoned on demand during gameplay, based on what build and abilities we are using.

Having them as pets at all times is not only boring, and can create performance issues, but is not something new either. It's been done already. Something like this hasn't, to my knowledge. And to me at least, it sounds fun, exciting and engaging as hell

I understand now. That is better than I thought you were saying, I thought you were talking about just a pop up of a picture of an Illuvial or something that showed you were using their strength. Didn't know you meant they actually appear - like a drone drops them or something. That would actually make sense but I think I would like to try the way they have it set up for play test and see if it is too much then we could go to something like you suggest.
Removed my thumbs down.

Nooo, that would be the worst.

We will actually summon the illuvials themselves to fight for us, based on what abilities we use and stack "elemental" points upon successful rotations. Once you obtain enough elemental points (just an example), you can summon it's respective illuvial.

And based on everyone's build, and what they are going for/what abilities and elementals they stack, they will summon different illuvials. And you can do different combinations during combat, depending on what's needed, you start stacking whatever elemental type you need to summon what you need. Opens up a ton of possibilities. It just has to be done in a way that doesn't clutter the battlefield too much, meaning the illuvials are spawned temporarily, while you are doing your rotation and stacking for the next one.

They can have cool entrance animations, not just a drone drop. Like a Rhamphyre doing a flying drive by and raining hell. Or a Lalura popping up from under, upon being summoned, and taunting immediately.

We can even include the colored finish of each stage illuvial, which will provide a nice visual effect to it's respective spell.

These are just a few examples, we can do alot of stuff with this and as already mentioned, would stack incredibly well with the tree collection idea

@gritty agate thoughts on this suggestion? I think it opens up to a lot of fresh possibilities, with a much more dynamic and action packed use of our illuvials.

  1. our abilities will scale with the tpi of illuvials
  2. the illuvials we summon will benefit from their tpi
  3. it will scale super nicely with the tree collection idea

If we do both, we will have added a ton of utility to our illuvials, players will be incentivized to collect all of them (all 3 stages will be needed for a full rotation) with highest possible tpis through both and it will also be very fun and engaging from gameplay perspective.

Thoughts? Is this doable in 2026?

# loud bolt It's interesting, I don't have a strong opinion on it

Have you seen something similar, that covers your pokemon vibe, is more dynamic and you summon different ones based on your combos and abilities used (or the same one, would be anyone's choice)?

And do you think tying the abilities to illuvials, their stages stats and levels would be fun and encourage ownership?

I believe that when you travel from place to place, or are engaged in a duel with another player in Sanctum Mesa, or in a Boss MMO Instance together with other players.... THE ILLUVIUAL you chose to be your current illuviual companion for the day..... Is sorta stowed away until you stop and hit a deploy command and it jumps out the drone perhaps when you are stopped. AND then when you begin to run, the drone automatically scans the illuvial and "Scoops" it up to take with you as it follows behind you as per normal....

# sleek dove Sounds like FF16's Eikon ability system

Gameplay wise, it would be cool if we can end up with a fighting system like that. Looks crisp.

However that's only part of the equation for us. We will get different elemental/affinity points using our abilities/combos which will allow us to summon different illuvials to aid us in combat - which will further enhance the gameplay.

It will provide illuvials with a ton of utility, not to mention a fun and dynamic gameplay.
