Summary
This proposal introduces a progression system that ties player rewards to a collection of illuvials and playing all current and future games. It incentivizes passive collecting (endless progression) and playing all of our games (season based, to keep things fresh and engaging). The Tree starts grey and hollow, and it obtains its color, fruits and glow as players acquire new illuvials, improve their collection and progress the 3 different tiers. This system will act as the foundation to build use cases for collecting assets and can easily connect to other parts of the ecosystem through additional branches/mini trees.

It merges collecting, competing, and progression into one long-term system that rewards both engagement and ownership.

This proposal emerged from the the 2nd thread about illuvial collection. You can find more details here: #1432594082567422023 message

This is a more sophisticated version than the initial IIP about an Illuvial Collection (#1430992244290355314 message). If this proposal passes with 25 👍 we will push both IIPs at the same time for IMC to decide

I would prefer to see a collection leaderboard like what is suggested here than the current bounty leaderboard.

My vision for rewards is as follows: they should be tied to unique objectives and achievements, obtained only once, in order to preserve Illuvium’s profitability, while still allowing players and collectors to pursue clear and meaningful goals.

Illuvium has already given a lot — and continues to do so. However, weekly rewards come with a real cost that directly impacts the long-term sustainability of the project. It is therefore essential to establish a durable reward system that keeps players motivated while ensuring the economic stability of the ecosystem over time.

Currently token distributions are based on spending players which is definitely an excellent first step. I'd say there's a slight miscalculation since with the safety pool, spend doesn't translate to ILV immediately, and distribution does, which causes pure sell pressure sadly.

I will say its currently a bit of a waiting game. We need products to launch to start generating revenue, once those goals are met, it'll be easy to recalibrate adjacent systems around that.

I think tying rewards to ownership, especially in a fun way where you are progressing a collection is a good idea.

The reason I tend to be cautious is that these sorts of systems alienate newcomers to games, for example its the same reason I would struggle to 'begin' with parallel this late into its life cycle.

It comes down to managing that so your 'collection' and how it ties into gameplay doesn't define it too heavily, and acts more like a bonus and extra curricular activity (like illuvitars) than defining the enjoyment of the entire experience

I would also steer clear of anything requiring extensive dev time, the MMO is key to Illuviums success so it needs to be complimentary, not interfere with its development if possible, this seems pretty light on work tho tbh

It doesn't alienate players at all, it does the opposite to newcomers - makes them want to stay and participate in the eco, compared to play a few games and leave. Right now we don't have anything and the players are alienated.

The collection proposal here itself is purely for progression tracking and rewards. It has zero impact on gameplay.

Very debatable if the MMO is the key to Illuvium's success. It's a mistake by itself for us to put ourselves in such bs position to begin with. I can debate anyone all day which one is more important, in the end we should release everything as one package or an expansion and relaunch this bad boy with a finished set1. Relying only on the MMO would be a big mistake which we should have learned from already.

Thanks for your input

Yeah now that all the eggs are in the MMO basket there is no way around it. My issue with the MMO is that genre is so stale, the most popping titles are from decades ago. Not sure how much we can innovate here. It's also why Riot scrapped their 4 year progress on their MMO and started from scratch, because they originally couldn't offer anything new. And this is a studio with limitless resources and a massive playerbase behind it.

That's why I believe if we will move in that direction we should give our MMO and games the supporting systems we need, integrate web3 components into it and might just work.

If we can release everything at once in a big expansion package, fully polished for a nice player experience, we can start snowballing the hype train.

If done right this proposal will also encourage people to play Gauntlet more, depending on what rewards we choose to saturate the Arena mini tree with. The system can bring life to our entire eco, and we would have 2 independent sources of income - one will be progressing the tree, the other will be the MMO (no idea how that's planned to be monetized yet)

I think this is a really good take: 'That's why I believe if we will move in that direction we should give our MMO and games the supporting systems we need, integrate web3 components into it and might just work.'

I agree on the same vein. Illuvials themselves need to become the Illuvium brand. They need to be front and centre to every single mission statement for every single Illuvium product. Tying things together with more focus would ultimately be good.

Yep it's following the original vision that illuvials would be the center of our universe, and why our progression tree would be in the middle, surrounded by the mini trees for each one of our gaming titles.

It presents the visuals and the idea for our players quite nicely (I think) and it will encourage everyone to start collecting. Which in turn gives them benefits and incentives to all of our titles.
