#Illuvium Zero Utility

I know it's not the focus at the moment and dev is on the back burner, but we should be having a discussion about Zero's role now not in 12 months

Land holding was initially marketed to people as a way to access the overworld. I still see old investors coming back to the discord after months or years of absence complain that the current model was not what they were promised, they are right. We had to pivot to a more sustainable model, but try explaing that to someone who's asset is 99% down and doesn't provide the utility they expected is a tough ask.

I have heard Kieran say the best way to make land holders happy is to make them money! He's right to a point, but it is going to take more than a 10x in income and land value for most early investors to be even close to recovering any money. So I agree it's a important step, but we can do a lot better than that and it doesn't have to be costly or time constraining for the dev team.

We need utility for holding Illuvium land outside of the income and leaderboard rewards. Something that could benifit any land holder not just the top 50.

Some Ideas I quickly thought of are below

  1. If you hold the biodata for an Illuvial you get an XP bonus for leveling illuvials of the same kind
  2. Holding land gives you a capture bonus for capturing Illuvials in that particular region (Holding a Brightland land plot would give a capture bonus when adventuring in brightland etc etc)
  3. Holding a particular land might give you extra energy to use when exploring the same region.
  4. Maybe discounted overworld runs if you own land of the same type

I thought of these ideas in about 10 min so im sure they could use some work, but wouldnt it be great if similar ideas where added to the new mmo and making Zero part of the system rather than just pushing it to the side and forgetting about it until we are ready to look at it again.

Anyway would love to know what others think and if you have a better idea please add to the discussion!

looking forward to see input from other community members.
I think it is more feasible to get some meaningful inputs/ideas once the vertical slice is public on a demo state which should happen pretty soon.
But nonetheless, always good to get some ideas in general to think about. 🙂

Probably someone in the team already thinked about this, and even there was some internal arguing about it. But it would be nice to know that some ideas are being considered to somehow integrate Zero in the ecosystem in the future when there are resources available. What Drach proposed seems quite reasonable to me from a gamer point of view but may be not so technically easy from a developer standpoint.

but besides that looking forward to the cool ideas in this thread as well, I read a lot of these threads for inspiraion

Give the land owner the possibility to level up Illuvials in training camps they can build.
cheaper or free access to the OW with the own fuel as promised. Especially leveling illuvials would even solve the problem with the 200 units every leviathan player needs on a good lvl. A lot of people are saying that they don't have the time to lvl up their Illuvials. and I can't see leviathan succeeding whit that lvl system where people should spend months of their lifes to lvl up 200 illuvials !
and to think that people who invested early and lost almost everything will spend over and over again in the game without getting an advantage over people who joined yesterday, is a mistake and will not work either.

I would like to be able to rent or delegate land to other players

Thanks Perry glad your keeping an eye on feedback!

I'm not sure what we r ment to see in that townhall link? Maybe I didn't listen to enough of it.

It is a little tricky coming up with ideas without knowing more details on the mmo and how it will integrate with the economy but im glad you are looking at it.

Maybe we could add some guild functionality to owning land. Like only land holders can create guilds. The more land they own the bigger the guild size or perhaps owning land would increase guild shared storage space. There is a lot you could do!

# verbal umbra Who rented a plot before? and for what reason?

you can't rent plots, therefore no one I guess.
but they would have done so, if land would really have been be part of the game, beside minting blueprints. I bought land for that reason. we were told that we'll need our stuff from the land to travel and craft things in the OW, and that it would be more integrated in to the other games. But now, it's almost completely disconnected from the other games. we could even harvest bananas or potatoes and burn them to get our 5 percent. If we could send Illuvials to the land to level them up, it would connect zero at least a bit to OW

I agree with the author of the post, and I've posted my own post that somewhat relates to what's being discussed here. My idea for the IZ game and its integration with the entire Illuvium world minimizes the cost of the increasing supply of illuvials by providing short-term fuel for use only in OW. I did make a suggestion for a Training Gym awhile back, that looked like this.

    1. Training Gym pr. Land plot. Level 1,2,3,4,5 (determine the tier of Illuvial that can train in the Gym)
  • You can place 1. Illuvial in the Gym, for a standard of 1 Week. You can use the Transducer in OW to select the specific Illuvial to be trained. (the Illuvial will receive the XP when the training period is completed).

  • You will be able to get a “Training Boost card” that will shorten the training time, or increase the XP gained in the session. These “Training boosts” can be obtained in the Transducer in the OW, by “burning Illuvials” in exchange of the “Booster Card”, and you can then send it to your land plot where it can be added to the Training. (similar to Morphopods)

How much XP can be obtained in each session can obviously be tweaked, but I would think it should take somewhere around 8 weeks to get 1. Illuvial from level 40 to 60, without any “boost” and by using those Training boosts you could reduce the time to half.

I think this could be a model that can support burning Illuvial for XP, and still be able to control how long it will take to level them up.

Another option that is much more simple, and probably works better could be...

    1. Training Gym pr. Land plot. Level 1,2,3,4,5 Determine the strengths of the XP boost.(50,75,100,150,200%)
  • The building produces a player based XP boost, that is mined on the Land like a blueprint (can also be traded and sold). The boost will last for 3 hours when activated, and works for any XP gained in OW and Arena.(work similar to the Flintcap consumables, but will work for all XP gained, not just the specific Illuvial, and can stack with Flintcap’s in OW.)

  • The building in ILZ could just be a reuse of the good old “Holographic statue building”.

These XP boosts could also be added to the Battle pass as rewards.

A cool thing about using XP boosts that last for a number of hours, is that players would want to get the most of them and play for the duration.
