This thread was created as a go-to place for all changes to the IPL Rulesheet throughout the season, instead of posting them in the Arena chat.

It also serves as a place for the IPL Team to poll tournament players about specific aspects of the structure.

Besides that, please feel free to leave any feedback regarding the IPL. Thank you!

Notes:

  • Tournament Formats are still exclusively "Best of Series" due to Tournament Platform limitations. The IPL 1000 Format for example will feature Swiss stages and check-mate finals as soon as possible.
  • Sit&Go Format is still "as many games as possible" and not "max X games" "first X games" due to Tournament Platform limitations.

**Older Changes: **

  • New Prizepool Distribution for all tournaments
  • New Tournament Format (e.g. Bo3 Semis in IPL 500)

**V5.7 Change Notes: **

"If the last invited ranking from the IPL Points leaderboard results in a tie, the tied players will receive invites from the reserved Wildcard spots."

So in case we have 32nd and 33rd tied in points we would invite both and use that extra slot from reserved wildcard spots.

**V6 Change Notes: **

The IMC & IPL Team has decided that the last IPL250 will be removed, and all events below it will be moved up by one week. The reason for this change is to avoid our World Finals taking place on the same date as the yearly TFT Open, as many pro players would like to compete in both.

**V6.1 Change Notes: **

All Sit & Go Qualifier events now have a different number of slots allocated to accommodate the increased number of players in the first timeslot.

For Example, the upcoming IPL 250 this weeekend instead of 16 Slots for each Sit&Go it will be:
Sit & Go #1 — 4PM UTC Friday - 18 Tournament Slots
Sit & Go #2 —00:00 AM UTC Saturday - 14 Tournament Slots

**V6.2 Change Notes: **

Format for IPL 500 and 1000 has been changed to a more competitive format, as originally intended.

  • IPL 500: Bo3-Bo3-Bo3-Bo5
  • IPL 1000: Bo3-bo3-bo3-19 Points Check Mate (max 6 Games)
#

**V6.3 Change Notes: **

  • Worlds Weekend 1 Format has been improved to eliminate players more gradual, instead of 64-32-16 we now have 64-40-32-24-16 with the same amount of games.
  • The Final Call event 24 hour Sit&Go now is decided by the best 8 Games not the first. This reduces variance and also incentivises grinding like it was intended.
  • The "IPL Code of Conduct – Punishment Guidelines" is receiving an update to have a % based point deduction instead of a flat rate to make punishments more meaningful in the later stages of the season.

**V6.4 Change Notes: **

The first tiebreaker now correctly states “average points” instead of “average placement.” This doesn’t change anything for the main events, but it fixes the issue caused by the non-linear point distribution in Sit&Go.

**V6.5 Change Notes: **

Final Call Tournament:

  • 12-hour Sit & Go window instead of 24 hours to make it a more active qualifier and reduce the potential for win-trading.
  • 32-player tournament instead of 64, since the extended Sit & Go qualifier already does a good job identifying the top players — no need for a larger contestant pool.

**V6.6 Change Notes: **

World Finals Day4 is now 20 points check-mate and max. 8 games, after we tested 19 point check mate on IPL1000 and found it too short for worlds. This is now also in line with the industry standard.

**V6.7 Change Notes: **

No more match remakes after Round 2 has ended instead of after Round 3.
This enables the Livestream to watch the weapons being picked at round 4.

**V6.8 Change Notes: **

"snake seeding" link has been updated to refer to the actual snake seeding explainer on liquipedia that is used for 8 Player Lobby Tournaments.
This system creates the fairest brackets for the seed.

# stable crest I believe it’s the other way around — the first cut of players after 6 games is ...

I'm not sure if I'm misreading it. Does this mean we play double the amount of games as before, or not? I'm reading it as the same amount of games, and if you're going to make more cuts, that means the people at the bottom get to play fewer games, which in turn makes it riskier to go out just because of bad RNG.

For example, in the first round, with this new system, will everyone play 6 games, or only the top 40? Because being able to play only 3 games in the Worlds that we qualified for half a year ago should never be an option, in my opinion. Doesn't this also apply to all the stages, where the people at the bottom have a lower chance to make a comeback because they get to play fewer games?

after that we cut the bottom 8 players every 2 rounds

#

resulting in a bigger sample size and less drastic cut after the initial 6 games, reducing rng factor

@stable crest would be great if we could have IPL leaderboard seeding instead of ranked leaderboard for main event if it isnt already
