Hey guys, its been 3 months since the last arena QOL thread. Lots have changed since then and most of what we voiced got implemented since then

Let's help the team and share our new ideas and sentiment in this new thread

Ill start off by separately posting the 12 points i gathered so that everyone can 👍 / 👎 each of them

I encourage everyone to also add their ideas by continuing the list 13), 14), etc, to polish and improve the game regarding QOL

1) Moving illuvials on the board
The illuvials levitate in the air by almost their full height when we pick them up on board. Because of this its harder to see where we are placing it and when ou illuvials are close to each other it gets over the others. I would like to suggest removing the levitation and simply having the last hex of the hex hitbox getting green when an illuvial is picked up

2) Moving Augments
New swapping feature is very appreciated. One thing it brought thought is that sometimes when moving an illuvial we can accidently move an augments. My suggestion here would be to have it be shift+click to move augments

3) Suits Rolls
It would be great to be able to see how many gold we currently have and how many suit options are left while we are rolling for them

4) Bench to Board
When an illuvial is already on the board and we place it on an edge line it gets pushed back into the board. This doesnt apply when the illuvial gets on the board from the bench but i think it would be a nice improvement

5) FPS
Last update had major issues regarding fps lags. Thanks to the fast hotfixes we had, most of it is solved but the game is still very clunky compared to before the update. Any movement, round start/end or transition into any screen make the fps substantially drop

6) Muting Opponents
Instead of having to mute everyone manually one by one it would be great to have a setting option to mute everyone automatically

7) Augment Art
I see what was attempted with the new augment art but they ended up being less recognizable then the other ones. The same color and only different small white symbol cant be different enough from one another. Even after a couple weeks we still havent accustomed to the change and in the previous overhauls it took couple days at max. I suggest reverting to the old symbols/colors and simply put those in the new frames/animation

8) Missions
It would be nice to have a progression bar for the missions such has "4/20 legendary item" used

9) Arena XP
So happy we finally have XP in arena, and i think the system and amount we get was nailed 💯. A further improvement would be to see the specific amount each illuvial got

10) Bench Swap
When we want to swap an illuvial from the board for one that's on the bench and the one on the bench has a bigger hitbox i wont enable the swap if the smaller hitbox is close to another illuvial or an edge. Theres already the mechanic in place to push out an illuvial where it can be placed, if possible, it would be very cool to have this mechanic also be for swaps

11) Illuvial Positioning
I personally really liked the feature that the illuvial was dropped on the last second when positioning. Sometimes we are 0.Xs from placing it and it gets reverted fully back which doesn't feel good and it made for at least 1 perfect positioning that the opponent can only expect and not react too. I dont know what was the reason but removing this but id like to see it back

12) In-Game Chat
The chat box is extremely big for a feature that'
s not used 90+% of the time. I would suggest only having a little text saying "chat (y)" or something and only when we open it we get the giant rectangle thing. If someone write in the chat there could be the red dot notifying us beside the "chat (y)"

13) Make Clicking Smooth Again
One additional... please check about clicking and repositioning Illuvials. There are many time where I click the fucking Illuvial and got to move it, but it does not stay clicked and falls back down. I have to ckick sometimes 3-4 times to move the damn thing. Makes gameplay much less smooth and wasted valuable time. Please address.

  1. Make the battle start timer longer
    Make the battle start timer 2 times longer than the current ranked arena gauntlet and there should be an option button for both players to click when they are ready to battle so when both players clicked the ready to battle button the fight will start or let the timer run out of time to start the battle. This way the players have plenty of time to think strategies, proper positioning of illuvials on the board, quality time analyzing and reading all details of augments, power ups, class and affinity for illuvials. This new feature will help decrease frustrations from new players and noobs. This feature will also work best if there is a lobby for 1 vs 1

I'd like to see a visual representation of the amount of gold each player has displayed on the battle board. Similar to how TFT does it in multiples of 10 up to 70 gold.

We need to make stats and levels matter more in Leviathan. The last buff (10% for everyone) doesn’t feel impactful — it’s negligible. We want something noticeable.

The system should keep “milking” me like a cow. Right now, I have an illuvial missing a key stat, and I know there’s no point in investing to make it perfect. It doesn’t matter at all.

It should be set up so that every additional stat forces us to invest again — and retrain our illuvials.

i think the augment overhaul has some good and some bad things.

  • I can see that the simpler icons are easier to memorize for new players
  • the work input for new augments or changes are probably very minimal
  • If the Arena is getting on mobile, simple icons are easier to distinguish as complex icons when they are very small
  • Simple art needs less processing power than complex art

But i feel it is needed that every augment has it's own color code and not every damage augment is red and every tank augment is yello, so a player can check and recognize them in a blink.
Colors can help so much in that process and you also see that in other autobattlers, or LOL/Dota items in general... they all have their own colors and i think that is for that very reason.

16) Size of Augment/health/energy Bar
Since the introduction of the new Augment Art, and with that the swap feature for augments it feels like the size of the Augment/health/energy bar got increased.
It can make it super hard to reposition your board or to see every illuvial on the opponents board (especially impactful in corner comps).
Also in lategame it often feels like info bar is fighting other info bars, half the illuvials disappear behind them.
Also sometimes (especially in corner comps) you accidently click augments instead of illuvials if you want to reposition.
It would be nice if those get downsized again, or if one can scale his own size of that Info and also the opponents size of that info.
(maybe it makes sense to disable health/energy bar during preperation phase?)

Hey guys, thanks all for the feedback and special thanks to @barren heart for arranging this thread.

Update on the different points provided so far:

  1. Moving illuvials on the board --> Addressed in latest release.
  2. Moving Augments --> Not sure adding a hotkey to hold would make the augment relocation experience more seamless. We will take a look at how we can tackle the issue.
  3. Suit Rolls --> We'll take a look.
  4. Bench to Board --> We'll take a look.
  5. FPS --> Latest deployment should have improved this significantly.
  6. Muting Opponents --> We'll take a look.
  7. Augment Art --> We won't go back to the old symbols, but we'll explore how can we keep improving current icon system.
  8. Missions --> WIP

  10. Bench Swap --> We'll take a look.

another one here.

i think on round 1, 2, 3 we should get the items regardless of winning or losing.... at least until they permanently fix the queue/match start bug

it's very often that you bug/crash while queuing or starting a match, just today it happened to me twice and i could only reconnect after round 2 or 3... losing at least 2 item components.

To add to the clickable hitbox thought... make the hitbox area slightly larger than the illuvial or ranger itself so u dont have to EXACTLY drop bonding or augment on them but there is a little bit of flexibility...

💡 Idea: What if we had an optional feature that auto-places augments on the best Illuvials?
For beginners, the prep time is already super stressful, and managing augments on top of everything else can feel overwhelming. Since the game already suggests which Illuvials they work best with, letting AI handle it (if enabled) would make learning way smoother.

Once you’re confident, you could just turn it off and go manual. Could even be a nice little season pass perk to help newer players complete quests more easily.

20) Include the bench in the tailoring system
I think a little bit of RNG is nice to have when one opens a chip crest and not be able to manipulate it to get a 100% what he wants.
Would stop the need to remove the whole bench and place the illuvials again to do it.
If this is not appreciated and people want their safe chance for a chip, i would recommend the change that augments stay on the illuvial when benched.

21) Add more time for specific rounds
Especially in mid game i feel i have often too less time to do all actions i want to do in that round.
I think this strongly influences the retention rate negatively, since that problematic has more impact the less experienced a player is.
I know the total time of a game is already pretty long, but making the rounds so(too) short on time does in my opinion not justify the shorter total time of a game.
The path of making gauntlet to a mix of strategy and apm can be liked or not but it got chosen, and with that we have to live with longer game-times than all the other autobattlers.

22) Right click for bonding

Right click on ranger then drag and drop on another illuvial to bond, or simply right click on the ranger then right click on the illuvial

Today we drag and drop an illuvial on our ranger which can result in accidental bonding that's highly frustrating because not only do you not position your illuvial next to the ranger which resets its position, it also often make you have a bad bonding which is detrimental to your position

I reckon that it must happen at least once every 2 games for most players if not several times per game for new players

23) Automatic bonding

If we bench the illuvial that we bonded with and then put it back on the board, automatically bond our ranger with it again

I'm not sure about this one because you could just remove the incentive to bench an illuvial then putting it back if the tailoring system takes the bench into account, but who knows it could be useful if we accidentally bench the wrong illuvial

24) Remove the reroll timer

After rerolling our weapons/weapon amplifiers/drone augments we have something like a 1 sec timer but I find it unnecessary because we are highly unlikely to missclick

I suggest to remove this timer and just leave the one we get once the 1st choices appear
