#Addition of a paid Leviathan leaderboard

Greetings, dear players and developers.

Over the past few weeks, it has become clear that the Leviathan mode is not only viable but also highly engaging for a large part of the community.

As you know, a paid Leviathan leaderboard was promised to us around early to mid-May.
However, instead of its release, we experienced a postponement.
And instead of a new release date, the leaderboard was deferred indefinitely.

I understand that at that time Illuvium’s online numbers were very low, but thanks to several factors—
||(token price pump,
affordable influencers promoting Illuvium on Twitter,
the announcement of IPL,
Dreamers Esports converting traffic from TFT to ILV over several months,
the game’s overall improvements,
major Leviathan tournaments being held)||—
the online player base has grown significantly.

Despite this progress, Leviathan still does not receive enough attention.
Our Leviathan tournaments often feel chaotic because players don’t train enough.
It’s very hard to gather competitive lobbies.
The abundance of bots ruins the experience and doesn’t teach us anything.

I often organize lobbies with minimal bots, but it requires a lot of my time and effort.
If you launched a paid Leviathan leaderboard, the issue of practice would be solved.
Players would come to tournaments better prepared.

By the way, have you noticed that many players are abandoning the Ranked leaderboard to either practice Leviathan or train their team in Overworld mode?

Why do you think so many people are giving up money in Ranked to do something else?
It’s obvious—Leviathan is much more interesting.

Please launch a paid Leviathan leaderboard.

Ultimately leviathan is the #1 game mode but for this first phase of the launch Illuvium wants to put the f2p mode first to onboard people

It cant stay like this forever because f2p is a marketing expense and once there is players we need to incentivize them to spend by starting the illuvium ecosystem (leviathan -> ow/adr -> zero)

Its already been decided that we start with f2p so i dont think this can change at this point unfortunately

If there were lb rewards for leviathan it would split the playerbase but a good idea thats been thrown around is that there could be leviathan tournaments on the sundays (f2p main tournaments are the saturdays)

As it would only be tournaments this wouldnt split the playerbase and it would still be amazing to be able to play and compete with our illuvials. it would be a first step and slowly get people prepared for when leviathan becomes the main game mode

As long as f2p stays the mode with most rewards and the main events most everyone will practice only there. I dont think they want us to practice leviathan, each leviathan game practiced = -1 free game (splitting player base, longer queues for newcomers)

At this point i think the only compromise possible is to still have small leviathan events on the sundays

Dont get me wrong i really want leviathan to thrive and ive always pushed for it so hard as its only when leviathan truly starts that illuvium will be able to start generating revenue but the decision has been made to start f2p to onboard people first

I never thought i wouldve played free arena tbh, at the very least i thought there would be both options but here we are 1 year later and i still feel stuck in f2p just waiting for my illuvials to have utility

Very unpopular opinion on my part but I think Leviathan should be the only game with a paid Leaderboard. I think F2P should be considered a practice arena and should have fuel given for top 10 so they can go out into OW and get Illuvials to play Leviathan.

That said I have absolutely no idea what the MMO is going to look like and how that is going to change how we get Illuvials or level them which may mean we are better off doing that until the MMO is out and stay as F2P being the main game for now.

Leviathan is so much more interesting than Arena to watch and to play. It gives a use case for Illuvials meaning people have to pay money to Illuvium rather than just extract. So I will thumbs up this even though I am not sure now is the correct time due to MMO.

one day we will get there 🙏 (we must get there for illuvium to succeed)

100% agree, the ipl should be enough to get free players in. They no longer need a leaderboard. That should be moved to Leviathan

I meant leaderboard rewards, of course they should have a leaderboard/rankings...also think that the best players should not have to qualify every time so I like the ipl setup

Can even keep leadeboard rewards point is they don't need it, but leviathan does)

# sterile tree ah ok, if you're just talking about rewards then yes that's fine. But for now we...

I agree with Filo. I would also want to avoid splitting the player base at this point. If the IPL is successful and new players can be attracted on a permanent basis, the next step can be taken. However, in order to convince these new players to join Leviathan, the level system must first be revised. No new player would buy Illuvials for a lot of money, just to spend hundreds of hours leveling them up in Overworld. Aaron said that they are currently looking for ways to make it less of a grind.

Honestly , i don´t think IPL with the current system is going to achieve that. Look at the 32 spots for today´s final... it´s the same "Us" with some exceptions. New players feels like they have no chance when there are only 8 spots for the money, and they ´ll definitely give up.
As i said before , we need better ways to attract new players or make em stay than a tournament for "Pro" players.

But hey! this post wasn´t about that...
100% Leviathan weekly paid leaderboard , no more Arena free leaderboard, only IPL and fuel prizes for f2p.
Big buff to stats/lv Illuvials and the whales and engaged players will come by themselves willing to pay-play... We are actually targeting the wrong audience, been saying this for so long...
We are bringing drainers when we need whales and people that would buy thousand dollars collections to smash us all and make us improve our collection everyday if we wanna keep getting rewards. That´s what the game ´s supposed to be since the beginning.

This is what we think a lot and we do not understand why they continue to benefit so much from playing for free, it is good to incentivize, but you can not promote the free mode more that leaves nothing, to the leviathan which is where the public that truly drives and moves the market is, these people have been with ilv for months and they cannot use them to fight and win some eth, just for fun, but honestly they do not leave 1000 dollars or 2000 just for fun, and it is not the solution to do tournaments where only 8 people can win something, I feel that the idea of the leaderboard would boost the game a lot and the market would explode, because everyone would try to climb to get a better position, the overwall lands would make a little more sense than just going to get xp and trying to get 1 ilv with decent stats.

I totally understand the importance of rewarding free to play but do you think pushing away investors and paid players will help the economy? Would you prioritize expenses than stimulating the economy? Lack of common sense makes a lot of investors and paid players very frustrated.
