#Building on Leviathan’s Momentum

Good morning to the team,

First of all, I want to clarify that I’m not an economist, and any ideas I share should be carefully reviewed by professional economists before being taken into serious consideration.

That said, a few days ago, something happened that you hadn’t been able to achieve in a long time — you changed the mood of the player base. It’s not subtle; the shift is obvious in the community chat and beyond.

You made the right move. You identified that the very mode people initially hated or ignored — Leviathan — turned out to be the most exciting content in the game. And what did you do? You poured gasoline on the fire.

You:

  • Listened to the community and increased lobby slots.
  • Increased the prize pool.
  • Increased it again.
  • Introduced stricter, clearer tournament rules.
Every move was the right one.
And now players are asking the right questions:

“Who is Leviathan? How does it work?”

Then Kieran came in with another barrel of gasoline.
He:

  • Made noise on Twitter.
  • Engaged affordable content creators.
  • Pumped the token.

The result? People got euphorically excited. These are the kinds of emotions that breathe life back into a project and make it stronger.

So, here’s my proposal:
Let’s stop pouring gasoline.
Let’s throw in a barrel of gunpowder.

1️⃣ Leviathan Stat Scaling & Economy
Right move:
Use the feedback from the recent Leviathan tournament and increase the impact of levels and stats. Let the whales start spending again. Let Illuvidex heat up.

Wrong move:
Delay indefinitely. Or worse, bump stats by a laughable 10% and pretend it’s meaningful.

#

2️⃣ Leviathan Practice Without Bots
Right move:
Introduce daily mini-events or activate a paid leaderboard for Leviathan. Allow players to create their own tournament lobbies — without having to beg others to help start one.

Wrong move:
Delay tournament lobby features. Run Leviathan tournaments with unprepared players. Skip serious practice tools and continue pushing F2P, keeping Leviathan queue half-dead.

3️⃣ Urgent Bug Fixing
There are far too many bugs. I won’t list them all here — I’ve already detailed many in Discord.
If needed, I’m almost always online and can provide a full list.

4️⃣ Leviathan Points in IPL Qualification
Right move:
Kieran forgets the 5–10% token crumbs from Leviathan. Make IPL points roughly 50% Leviathan / 50% Casual.

Wrong move:
Announce 5–10% Leviathan points and act like this is a huge step forward, rather than something confusing and underwhelming.

5️⃣ Leviathan-Only Bug Fixes
Some bugs only exist in Leviathan mode. For example, Illuvials from the carousel always appear as level 1 — please address this.

**Final Thoughts:
Right move:
Host a multi-hour meeting with economists, then bring the ideas to the players for real discussion. Then act.

Wrong move:
Say “these are great ideas” and promise to implement them someday. Let’s not wait. Let’s not waste momentum again.**

With respect,

Jesus, 50% is pretty insane, I'm not sure I can get behind that. I was thinking more like 20%, which is still enough points to allow quite a few good leviathan players into the World Event. We need to be really careful though. Right now the web3 content creators aren't covering us, to activate them without paying huge amounts of money we need to bring in the TFT streamers and really show how well received the game is to popular creators. If the league we are pitching them on has a huge component of P2W we could hinder our ability to get these new content creators in.

We're looking into daily mini events, they will likely be attached to the battlepass. For now we will run leviathan tournaments but we are going to need to weave them into the scheduling of the IPL, which currently has a tournament every weekend up to December.

The stats boost I can say for certain how much we are going to crank them up, I think something like 20% is still a huge amount, but ultimately we need to test it. We know right now it needs a boost, but without testing to see how it feels im hesitant to say any more.

i don't see a problem with running them parallel except for lack of tournament-staff

Keep in mind, 0 stat illuvials are as rare as max stat illuvials it's a edge case not happening in gameplay. (if you filter in the dex, 0stat are actually way more rare as max stat, since there is a fusion mechanic)
We have default levels of 20/40 for stage 2/3 illuvials.
The bonus power we are talking just exists if a player with no illuvials at all is playing leviathan.
We currently have 25%/25% for stats/lvl60 and you have seen that it barely made an impact.
If one does a couple adr, we are at a difference of 12.5% in stats and depending on early or late game of 8% in level (where level actually just affects 3 out of 6 stats.) compared to the guy either spending 7k$ or 2khours and 2k$
There is rng in the game which impacts the gameplay way more than the stats at the current level.

If stat impact is not significant, you just give the f2p people the option to tripple down on rewards with barely getting any revenue in.

By the way, you’re right.
I don’t understand why people usually compare a level 1 illuvial with no stats to a level 60 illuvial with maxed stats.

There’s a huge amount of junk on Iluvidex that costs about as much as a carton of milk. The difference between that junk and a hundred-dollar illuvial isn’t 50%. It’s negligible because even the “junk” illuvials have decent stats—not perfect, but good.

A fair comparison isn’t a player without a deck versus a whale, but rather a player with a $300–500 deck versus a whale.

that's kinda line with the thinking of

  • In wow, a dude who just got max level and equipped himself with dungeon gear, should totally be able to lead the dmg-meter in the world first raid group in the highest raid available
  • The guy having seen all ufc fights and knows how to fight against anyone should be able to be ufc champion with hitting the gym once a month
  • The guy who saw all roger federer matches and never have seen a gym from the inside, weak af can barely lift a racket should be able to win wimbledon.

It just doesn't make any sense

It’s truly heartbreaking that this is how my Illuvium saga ends — the journey of collecting, building the best possible team, and competing with other players and organizations.

Perhaps your idea of attracting free-to-play users through the investments that were originally meant to benefit NFT collectors will prove successful. So be it.

Let’s see how much revenue we’ll generate from battle passes and skins by the end of the year. I truly hope it’s enough to cover ongoing development costs and fund future tournaments — because the treasury will run dry very quickly.

Let my $17,000 for all my iluvs be a donation to the game.

To all the players in Ranked Mode, I’ll just say this:
You now have a chance to pillage our treasury.
We did everything for you — from buying land to endless fuses and Overworld grinding.
