#Bring back Acendent

I would like to bring back Acendent mode in arena. There is a few different ways we could do it. I think one of the best ways would be to start with a weekly rotation between Acendent and Gantlet as there is not enough players (currently) to play both. This would also help with keeping things less repetitive and change things up from week to week. Also when the MMO gets released most players are going to be playing that instead, making it a lot harder to get games started in Gantlet. I don't want to take any devs off of the MMO but, I think we could possibly switch some of the development from Gantlet to work on Acendent. It would also add the much needed utility to owned illuvials. Let me know what you think and make sure to give this post a thumbs up if you agree.

Hey bigmanJB, i loved ascendant and can see a place for its eventual return but not now. As your stated splitting playerbase is a danger without a lot of players and the first "split" we have to do is begin leviathan. Ascendant can only come down after both free and leviathan gauntlet have started and have enough players

The teams approach is now to fully focus 1 thing at a time, which i think is good. It doesnt make sense to bring back ascendant (which needs full rework) when gauntlet is 95% done

When you say "also when the mmo gets released most players are going to be playing that instead" id say that this is simply your opinion affected by your surroundings. I could say the total oposite from my perspective and surroundings

Once marketing for our first game (gauntlet) we will attract people that want to play gauntlet and most of those wont want anything to do with an MMO

gauntlet is the best mode, i hope you never leave it and also continue to support it with prizes and tournaments

Personally I'd like to see leviathan be Ascendant rather than Gauntlet. I don't see leviathan gauntlet lobbies filling constantly anytime soon so it's an obvious change imo

The data suggested that ascendant wasnt sticky

Ascendant main problems were the overly complex team builder and the lack of a bit of RNG to spice the game. If the team can take what they've learned so far from Gauntlet and apply it to Ascendant I think we could have an amazing 1v1 game with ownership.

I absolutely agree but those that look to be competitive in a leviathan ascendant mode would likely already have a deep understanding and wouldn't be phased by a team builder.

The thing to remember about Ascendant is that it's truly unique and sets illuvium apart from other autobattlers. Gauntlet, though fun isn't really anything new. Thinking gauntlet alone is going to convert TFT players is a mistake imo. Sure, it plays like a game they already understand but where's the hook? What is gauntlet offering these players they can't get from TFT? That's where ascendant comes in. A truly unique take on a genre they already love

being unique doesnt mean people will play it tho

True and I have said in the past that ascendant mode is fundamentally flawed as a concept to Arron in the past. But many years have past since then and I've come to think the mode could complement gauntlet quite well.

Gauntlet is a great on ramp, a free, low investment way for a player to learn the illuviums autobattler. Leviathan Ascendant is true end game content. You've played the MMO, mastered gauntlet and now look to put your skill and collection to the ultimate test.

The biggest issue is how do we ensure the mode isn't just solved. If the meta is just build 7 earth Granite then what's the point 😅. We need rules/RNG to force players to improvise and think on their feet.

I will say though that if it's decided we do bin ascendant then we need a different approach to leviathan gauntlet. I'd suggest saving it for special events rather than having it constantly live. So for example we disable ranked gauntlet the last weekend of each month and replace it with a leviathan gauntlet event with high rewards. Battle pass ownership is required to participate or at least is required to be eligible for rewards.

Gauntlet f2p, Ascendant Leviathan was always the way.

Why can't we play Ascendant with our full collection at hand? That way players can go for one trick pony teams while others will have a full collection and be able to adapt on the spot. It benefits all possible groups in-between.

The quick-er games and more casually oriented format will also attract wider range of players and we won't rely on hijacking tft ones

It will work well for starters with the collection/battle pass thing that's coming. Once people have decent enough collections 6-12 months later, Gauntlet Leviathan can be released. Hopefully the playerbase would be big enough by then.

Most importantly there will not be as much pressure as having to obtain 150+ good stat illuvials just to be able to compete. And then comes the leveling.

With Ascendant you can start with one solid team, and then expand and work on it through different means.
