Here is just an idea, if it's bad ok, but maybe it's worth a thought.
What if we scrap the rewards completely, and use the money for hiring more devs to help complete the games faster? Also to bring fresh ideas that could help connect the universe better.
Good games don't need rewards to attract players.
So instead of using money to feed the same playerbase, what if we use the money to develop and grow?
And when the game is in a good place, we can explore rewards again.

  • money from rewards
  • reducing council payments
  • no revdis for a period

(Maybe keep adr rewards if the profit from them justifies it)

Expecting alot of hate for this, but bleeding the ecosystem dry just to have less than 8 players in arena is not a solution.

Have a great day!

I think the rewards at least allow us to distract ourselves a little within the player community. I'm competing for Overworld rewards, and you're already getting less in rewards than what you've invested... let the players spend time now. We've already waited quietly for 2 months...

Beyond was finished, Overworld was closed... everyone had started to attack something... this isn't good, when a new player joins the Discord, they want to see a healthy environment, not a group of players/investors constantly complaining about something.

Also, I know the team has been downsized, and extra resources are being sought. If additional developers are needed, the management should be able to handle it without having to go through more economic downsizing. I think I’m on the side that wants the game to be released a bit slower but in a way that will satisfy everyone. We’ve seen what happens when things are done too quickly, and you know what we’ve been through since last summer because you’ve been here 🙏

Good evening, my friend. Thank you for your interesting perspective.

Here’s my take: I believe the small rewards were introduced for two main reasons:

1️⃣ To quickly find bugs in a regularly updated game with minimal financial cost;

2️⃣ To help calm the morale of players who’ve been starving for activity.

If the rewards are removed, online activity will drop. As a result, bugs will be discovered much more slowly.
And we’ve got more updates coming soon for Gauntlet. The game will likely come with its share of bugs. With the current player base, those bugs can be found and fixed faster than if barely anyone is online.

Also, people will start getting upset again.

I personally think removing the current small rewards would be unwise.

But that’s just my opinion. Have a great evening.

Gauntlet gold per round has been bugged at least since the global rebalance patch that was what? 1-2 months ago? it's definetly not for fixing bugs when literal critical fundamental ones are in the game for months

I totally get what you are saying but I really wish it were more simple. For example we spent a large sum on a QA team, which I sorely miss honestly, but the truth is that for 1/10th of the cost by adding rewards in the game and adding testnet prizes etc, we got a comparable outcome.

My point is having people playing the game is incredibly beneficial to the team and during a beta stage, very few want to play the game. The data and feedback being gained is more valuable than adding maybe 1 more developer at the current rewards pool. Also the rewards come out of the treasury and not from runway, so its beneficial to have it structured this way.

I am personally in favour of a Revdis pause btw, but I don't think the community would allow it 😛

Yeah, i definitely don't know the deeper layers of management.
I know that i love this project and i am in it for a long time, and sometime the feelings get the best of me, especially when so many people from last seasons quit after getting their rewards, feeling like they milked the game and left.
And now i barely see 8 people playing at a time. Often i have to quit the queue because i cant get to play the game.
Hoping for a better future Atlas_Love

I totally get the frustration and I feel the same. The council was very careful when it came to reinstating rewards, and starting off with a smaller amount before ramping up is the current strategy, leaving very little harm in comparison to the current benefit.

But in the end, simply adding a developer is far more complex and nuanced than it seems at face value. But in the end if Kieran determines we need another developer, they will certainly hire one. Rewards are not preventing that, and if they needed to be stopped for it, then I have no doubt Kieran would ask the council.

I know sometimes it doesn't feel like it. But every single one of these major threads, especially when they have quality discussion is brought to the council frequently, often more than once.

It is heard and the council brings your concerns directly to anyone that might be relevant in the discussion and Kieran immediately forwards it onto the team to get concrete answers.

Jaganite is particularly good at ensuring things don't get missed, but every council member is across different things and I don't think we miss anything critical.
