One of the key aspects of competitive play in Illuvium was the convenient battlefield overview, previously provided by simple and intuitive camera controls. However, the current system for managing the drone and camera detracts from the gameplay experience. In the past, we had easy access to a full view of the arena, which offered a significant advantage in tactical planning. Now, instead, we’re stuck with a drone that hinders more than it helps.
Currently, the drone serves two functions:
- It displays the upgrades equipped on it.
- It obstructs gameplay if the player fails to hover the cursor over an enemy Illuvial, forcing them to waste time searching for it.
The second function overshadows the first: the drone has become a tool that opponents use to hide their upgrades, complicating the analysis of their strategy. This eats up valuable time and distracts from the core of the competition.
Proposed Changes:
- Revert to Previous Controls:
-Return drone control to the Ctrl + right mouse button combination, as it was before. This will allow quick and precise interaction with the drone without interfering with the main view.
-Restore camera control to holding the right mouse button—a standard and convenient solution for freely viewing the arena. - Simplify Access to Drone Information:
-Fix the display of drone upgrades in a specific spot on the interface (e.g., a corner of the screen or next to the drone model) so opponents can’t hide them. This will eliminate the need to “hunt” for the drone and make gameplay more transparent and fast-paced.
Outcome:
Restoring the previous camera and drone controls will bring back the game’s tactical depth and convenience, removing unnecessary obstacles. Players will be able to focus on strategy and skill rather than wrestling with the interface.
