Since it looks like the Marketing Disks are moving forward, I wanted to share an idea I had about how they could be distributed.

I’ve already shared this with a few team members and discussed it with the Community Council, but I thought it would be valuable to gather feedback from the community as well. Your input could provide insights that benefit the team and help refine the approach.

This is drafted in an IIP format, though it might not need to go through the formal process since Illuvium Labs oversees marketing decisions.

IIP - Player Reward: Marketing for Beyond
Author: Fight4Eth, Chatgpt

Abstract

This proposal aims to reward players for their dedication to the Illuvium ecosystem by distributing gameplay rewards. By rewarding players who meet certain criteria with a Mega Disk or a Standard Disk, this initiative encourages greater connection across different Illuvium titles, especially for those with limited exposure to Illuvium: Beyond. This initiative serves to enhance cross-platform engagement and foster loyalty within the player base.

Summary

Reward Dedicated Players: Distribute rewards to players who have reached a defined threshold of hours played in either Overworld, Arena or ZERO.(threshold could also be X # of OW runs, X # of matches played in Arena, X # of hours played in ZERO)

Encourage Cross-Platform Exploration: Provide these rewards as a gateway to Illuvium: Beyond, enhancing player familiarity with this part of the ecosystem.

Leverage In-Game Data for Eligibility: Hours played in OW, Arena or ZERO will determine eligibility, avoiding rewards for bots or minimally active accounts.

Overview

The rewards program targets players who play in Illuvium Overworld, Arena, or Zero but have yet to explore Beyond. By introducing these players to Illuvium: Beyond through gameplay rewards, we aim to foster their interest and engagement across the entire Illuvium ecosystem.

Potential Challenges

Volume of Eligible Players: Ensuring a manageable number of disk distributions based on eligibility thresholds.

Data Analysis & Feasibility: Coordinating with the Illuvium team to analyze hours played data and to filter out ineligible accounts, such as bots or minimal engagements.

Proposed Mechanics

Eligibility Criteria: Hours Played Thresholds: The Illuvium team will define the required hours of playtime in OW, Arena or ZERO to receive one Standard Disk and, separately, one Mega Disk.

Distribution Timing: Rewards will be distributed early in Wave 3 to ensure timely engagement with the upcoming content.

Reward Allocation: Mega Disk and Standard Disk to eligible players, determined by in-game data analysis and hours played.

Cross-Promotion Goals: Encourage Beyond engagement, with rewards serving as an entry point to this part of the ecosystem.

Rationale

This initiative rewards player commitment, builds goodwill within the community, and seamlessly introduces new gameplay avenues. By leveraging rewards as a bridge between Illuvium’s experiences, this IIP serves both to enhance player retention and to reinforce the connection between different parts of the Illuvium universe.

This idea is specifically for Wave 3 or before we get D1sk fragments in the OW as I think that idea is superior it just needs to get built first. Alternate ways the team can distribute marketing d1sks. Ranking rewards, tournament rewards, stream giveaways, influencer collaborations, or raffles.

Sounds great to me 👍
Would the community have the opportunity to view the rewards/requirements before they went live?

I support this proposal it introduces existing players to beyond to have a taste where they may not even consider it. More players will have a starter illuvatar from it and it may drive engagement to future d1sk purchases even accesories off the secondary market if they wanted to personalise their illuvatar. I'd put a higher threshold on a megad1sk as in the receiving player needed to have spent at least x fuel $$$s or $$$s on secondary market etc... but giving away a free standard disk for engagement is a way better idea than handing out ilv ❤️ hope this gets up so more players are part of illuvium beyond. Good proposal F4E 🙂

That was the intention with D1sk fragments. This goes even further. Really love it.

A lottery system could easily be used to cap rewards and still foster engagement through chance. (i.e. not all eligible players get a disk)

Would be nice to see landholders rewarded. The Lizard Labs bounty boxes system was a hit. Something like that, the mount of time, ILV and illuvium assets you own give you points.

D1sks should be given out with the purpose of making money for the DAO. Will giving an existing player a D1sk for playing make them spend more money than they are already spending? I think that is the question we need to ask.
Currently what costs money to play is OW and Zero to buy credits. Therefore, I think that if we give out D1sks for gameplay it should be linked to those. Maybe even use them as a way to get people playing Leviathan?

I do agree, but D1sks also act as a cross promotion.
I think the main idea of offering D1sks as rewards is to open more people up to Beyond, which will lead a percentage of them participating further there and purchasing more D1sks.
I think it is worth the risk to see what impact this could have and the profit that it could potentially generate for the DAO.
If it proves unsuccessful it could always be wound back.

You make a good point. I guess it depends on how they are awarded. If we do it by leaderboard are the people who are consistently in the top already participating in Beyond or are they new players that it would be worth trying to hook? I don't know the answer to that.

I guess my main point is that I want to ensure we are spending marketing in a way to get new players or get old players to buy more Illuvitars. I don't want them to be a reward for already being invovled. I love free stuff as much as anyone but we need to be careful with our resources at this point I think.

Or maybe not time but specific achievements, something that is hard to manipulate or game.

Yeah, I even like the idea of Jesse's with a lottery type system. Maybe you could get points by doing certain things - goals, time spent, leaderboard and then each point counted as one chance in the draw. That way the more you do the more chances you get to win? Guild tournaments are on now and that might be a way to do some marketing with them. They could even be opened on the stream and then the items given to the player who won it. Takes away their chance to open it but I think these events are getting some viewers and maybe if they see the Illuvitars they will go buy their own.

but i also wouldn't go too heavy on diskfragments.
Beyond likely promotes itself very good already in all games, since people will ask where are those emotes from or those drone blasts or that battleboard/ranger/drone skin etc.
