So queuing for Leviathan is pointless at the moment.
I propose that leviathan be done away with...kinda. keep it simple - casual and ranked.
Only ranked is leviathan. The name needs to be binned it's not user friendly.
Ranked should be limited to the sweaty people. Reduce the PVP modes and bring value back to those with ownership. If someone decides to do ranked and does not own they still can play, only they are base level illuvials.

If the ELO rating starts very low for new players it could prevent them from coming across people with paid decks until they rank up enough. I also agree the Leviathan word isn't user friendly. Having Leviathan as the only ranked mode would force players to own illuvials once their rank starts topping out.

I hear you but I have spent unnecessary amounts on Yu-Gi-Oh and other cards for an advantage. If you are in it for skin I see no reason why asking for skin is unreasonable. And 5k is a heavy misrepresentation. Sure if you want perfect stat, but if you are pro level then sponsors may eventually provide this (as sponsors go, this isn't an unreasonable amount).
I do agree that the max % difference from base is meaningful but I also understand that this is up for review. If done fairly there will be an advantage, sure but wouldn't be paying to win if you play well.

The thing is we barely have enough players to fill one ranked lobby at a time, of course leviathan would feel like a ghost town. Once they balance it and we have a bigger playerbase, and we have some sort of competition rewards, it should start come to life.
I think this can be implemented only for ascendant first, as it's not as much of a hassle building your team, unlike gauntlet and is also more of a side mode currently, good to experiment on.

The whole problem is that the team is completely focused on ranked. We don't have a season for Leviathan, we don't understand how the team will distribute the season and rewards, if there are more rewards for ranked than for Leviathan, then I myself with my 60 lvl and a good deck will play ranked. Everything is in the hands of the team, they are on the path of the mass market, they are not interested in old investors, maybe when new ones come to the game, but for now free-to-play and ranked are the top priority and this could be their biggest mistake, to switch from web3 to web2
