This proposal outlines changes to the current blueprint and skin production process across Illuvium Overworld (OW) and Illuvium Zero (IZ). The proposed modifications aim to simplify gameplay loops, reduce on-chain transaction and system load, and make Blueprints consumable when minting skins, creating more stable demand.

It makes sense for backend resource saving, and scarcity..sounds good but I have some questions.

  • will we have to burn illuvials for the NFTs?
  • will illuvials have a supply limit or has that gone away as well?
  • why did we take about the one time BPs, where those who got the bps are the only one who has it?

Hey, appreciate the feedback!

  • I don't want to shoehorn the economy design in law via IIP, but the most likely path forward I see is that we require burning X illuvials from the minted blueprint -> skin step
  • Not sure what you mean, Illuvials in the OW have no hard supply limit but are soft-bound through the bonding curve
  • The one time BPs still exist on your plot, but the mint makes a one-time use copy rather than taking the BP itself

what is meant with the BP NFT is burned? we can only use a blueprint once?

Ya on point 3 i think there is still a little confusion.

To my understanding a player will mint a blueprint(as we know them now. Lets say an Axodon mozart skin )

This would then be burned on the plot and allow the user to then create skins 1 at a time using a selection of resources(potentially illuvials)

The player could at some point decide they don't want to mint skins anymore and remint that "Factory blueprint" and sell it to another IZ player.

Is that correct? Or is the Factory blueprint soul bound to that plot now?

What you guys thought about the period where we could get the blueprints

Sounds like a great proposal to me. The backend workload is something very abstract to us players, but if it puts a heavy strain on the backend and has a high server cost attached, reworking the structure seems like an obvious choice.

I appreciate that this will help streamline skin production, as it has been somewhat confusing and not as straightforward as I would have hoped. This is a great step in the right direction! 👏

Sounds great.
But I am quite disappointed that we should get blueprint minting 8 weeks after game launch and now we can see that the game loop isn't even designed yet...

Overview

  1. I wonder if this cross-game interactions will be a problem in general in future when trying to connect the games. If sending morphopods to Zero and dyes to OW strain the backend, what is actually possible and what not to develop? If backend really is a problem, i guess this alone justifies an upvote. Wwhat if proposal won't be approved, are there other solutions?
  2. One could say that having to catch morphopods in the overworld and use them to create dye's in zero to use the blueprints for forging skins would add as much depth to the gameplay for a zero player as catching illuvials for the arena player. Can't really agree with that.
  3. Should that mean ..Blueprint Data owners may lose exclusivity...?
  4. Fair enough

Proposed adjustments

    1. Is there already a plan the reintroduce the podarium? Asking for a friend who built 2 podariums on each t2 plot to be early in dye production and is now wondering if he should recycle them or not.
    1. From whom IZ purchases morphopods, the DAO? Repeated minting of a blueprint adds more cost than it was calculated before i guess. Are there ballpark numbers floating arround how expensive a Skin would be to craft ?
    1. Reminting repeatedly for sure, if you keep the data, if you build enough data banks to store all the data. Are adjustements intended to Data storage in Zero or is it kind of a rarity factor? Like either you build masses of data storages over the years or you have to get rid of some datas at some point or do you increase the storage of the building?

This was my understanding of the old and new process in a simple diagram. The costs for minting particular NFT's are tbd so I left them out. Could use elements, fuel, morphopods, ores or whatever.

Quick explanation:
Instead of minting a blueprint that can then make infinite skins directly, your land holds onto a blueprint on the plot, that can reset if you trade your land, and instead mint multiple one-time use skin "blueprint NFT's".

In my example of the new version, I took the liberty to name the minted blueprint NFT's "Skin Frame NFT's". They are the one time use NFTs where you create the full skin with additional resources. To me it sounded like a frame of a vehicle that you produce in a working factory where you then add plating, details and coloring to, therefore "Skin Frame". The official blueprint is stored in the data bank and is not lost regardless of however many "Frames" you mint.

# hollow plinth That does bring up another question. What happens when a land is transferred/sol...

Yes as far as i understand, the blueprint would be reset. So it would function as a soft staking mechanic where you want to hold onto your plot because you can mint X skins from it. And if you move it then you lose that ability.

-my personal idea alongside the proposal-

I would like to see a smaller capacity to data banks alongside this proposal as i could see the blueprints regaining scarcity that way. If a Data bank can only hold onto 5 blueprints, with current numbers you would only have a maximum of 30 competitors for any individual blueprint.
18 suit skins per illuvial, 200 illuvials -> 3600 BPs
20K plots and 5 storage on each -> 100.000/3600 = ~30 copies per blueprint. 👀

You would start to trade off which blueprint you would like to hold onto which I find an interesting mechanic rather than just being able to mint any of your 100 T1-T5 blueprints you obtain across months of playing. Preferably you remove one from your bank and then hope that you get a higher tier blueprint. or you fall back and look to re-obtain the one you scrapped. 😄

Yeah I like the idea of making things scarce, but not sure this approach would work. Players would end up ditching the lower tiers for higher tiers and eventually higher tier skins would be easier to find because no one wants to waste space holding on the low tiers.

Maybe something like a blueprint becomes more worn/unstable with each blueprint NFT mint. Maybe after 10 the blueprint is lost and you need to find it again.

As there still seems to be a bit of confusion around this, to make things a bit more clear (and use a clear example - let's say i am the only one holding Adorius BP DATA -> which can be used to create BP NFT)

  1. **Before ** this change -> if i minted 2 Adorius BPs and i placed one on the market, the buyer could use it to make 'infinite' Adorius skins -> all of a sudden there's 2 people (me and the buyer) creating 'infinte' Adorius skins
  2. **After ** this change -> if i mint 2 Adorius BPs and i place one on the market, the buyer could use it to create 1 skin and that's it -> there's still only 1 person that can create 'infinte' Adorius skins

Is this correct?

And it's not the point, as before you didn't even had to hold land ..just buy a BP from the market and make 'infinite' skins and enter the skins game...
Now if you don't hold land and have the BP DATA on your land basically you can't produce skins -> you have to buy BP NFTs which only have 1xtime use

This keeps landowners in full control of the blueprint market

Adorius Arcane Plating Data

Before: If you minted Adorius Arcane Plating BP NFT it would be removed from your data bank (but could be researched again with luck), after said research plus mint you'd place one on the market. The buyer could use it to make infinite Adorius Arcane Plating Skins (but at a cost), now you and said buyer can create infinite Adorius skins

After: If you minted Adorius Arcane Plating BP NFT it would not be removed from your data bank (the mint process can be triggered again, it's an activity with duration and cost including morphopods and resources as described in the IIP, yet to be nailed down). After two mint activities you can place one on the market. The buyer can use it to make 1 Adorius Arcane Plating skin (at a cost, likely illuvials). You can use yourself to make 1 Adorius Arcane Plating skin. You can use the blueprint in your data bank to make more Arcane Plating Adorius skins

  • Is there already a plan the reintroduce the podarium or it just got taken out for now and we will see what it can be used for in future? Asking for a friend who built 2 podariums on each t2 plot to be early in dye production and is now wondering if he should recycle them or not.
  • From whom IZ purchases morphopods, the DAO?
  • Repeated minting of a blueprint adds more cost than it was calculated before i guess. Are there ballpark numbers floating arround how expensive a Skin would be to craft? Am i the only one being worried that the whole skin industry gets expensive for the landowner and there for prices for skins have to be high and therefore too less demand? (scan cost fuel, research cost fuel, blueprint minting cost fuel and morphopods, other ingredients needed, it's just a skin for 1 armor line out of 15 lines (yet))
  • Are adjustements intended to Data storage in Zero or is it kind of a rarity factor? Like either you build masses of data storages over the years or you have to get rid of some datas at some point or do you increase the storage of the building?

  • there's a plan but really not sure on the wen of it, I would personally recycle them given they are large buildings? not sure what stage he has them at
  • the activity cost isnt set in stone as in my answer to Torrex, but my current thinking is that it will be a beefy resource cost which is discounted with morphopods you send from OW to IZ down to 0 for X morphopods. So if you're not bringing your own morphopods, you're trading resources for them
  • Scan cost and research cost is trivial as you know and given current price, we can't suddenly 100x the mint cost in relative terms and we also don't want to invoke some 24 hour morphopod grind. I'd argue the main cost will be the illuvials from the market
  • Something to be balanced out, I do like there being some decision space regarding how much of the building or its upgrades you will plant to complete collections, but collection completion should still be possible without having 200 Data Banks.

All of the statements above in this message is my current personal thinking as system designer, nothing set in stone

So you're paying upfront a few thousand dollars on a plot and if you want to research you can't sell anything in terms of fuel. How is that trivial?

# spice fjord So you're paying upfront a few thousand dollars on a plot and if you want to res...

the upfront cost isn't trivial, if you look at it that way you are right

I was looking at it from a "how much fuel does it cost to mint a blueprint" given you own a piece of land, which when translated to $ isnt much compared to the floor price of the illuvial which goes into the skin

And even then, the main cost will be the creation of your "skin factory" ergo the blueprint on your plot. I'm okay with the factory being reasonably expensive to get, which is why I think we can't suddenly make the mint loop relatively expensive

radiant echo
#
  • obviously i have them maxed out 😄
  • ah so you can stil send morphopods to zero, thought that won't be possible.
  • debateable if they are trivial, i guess many t1 landowners having bought the plot to play the BP lottery would argue otherwhise 🙃
  • i see. To me the biodata/blueprints was the same feeling of getting as big of a collection with illuvials, me personally think it's sad that's not possible. Also keeping those set1 biodata/blueprint data in case it could get valuable way lateron was an additional incentive even starting it. But i can see the other side being attractive for other landlords.

To get my Rhamphyre BP i think it cost me more than the cost of a Rhamphyre right now 🙂 .. so the investment to getting to a BP factory is quite a lot
If for example the scans and researching for 5 scanners and labs would be like 54/day and not 540 well then i could say it's trivial 🙂

Then again if the costs would be very low we would have everyone building BP focused plots and still be able to sell fuel daily

Was because of the mentioning of the "decision making for space being intended". Space is valuable right, and it likely gets more valuable with new buildings getting introduced down the line. At the moment you need like 3 just for the biodata and then you need 1-2 for the blueprint data you want to keep because you think they are valuable. (don't know how much if you wana keep them all). It's to me honestly already too much sacrifice just for storage and i guess it will increase with future sets to some extend.

Max chance for Blueprint success is 10% if I recall. 3 * 18 = 54. 54 / 10% = 540 fuel to get a Rhamphyre blueprint

Current fuel price is let's say at 1/10 of max rail (taking the highest) which is currently 0.007$, so 0.0007$. 540 * 0.0007$ = $0.378. Floor price Rhamphyre is $19.25. 3 Rhamphyres is ~$60. 150x give or take

Biodata is a bit more expensive sure but gets cheaper as you get more and more biodata, so its comparison depends on how much biodata you have

There is a 2 week process here normally, so im unsure whether we want to give the community more time to consider. With 29 / 0 votes i dont think we'll see dramatic change regardless but if the community feels bypassed, please reach out!

Finally I would like to ask @cinder dust as the most public facing author whether he would become the sponsor and ensure the next steps move smoothly or if he wants to make changes based on feedback in this channel. And with that I'll look to add the document to github within the next few hours.

To add to Paz's answer,
In practice it looks like the following:
I normally send the sponsor an overview/link to the document that i post on github to ensure there was no foul play where the ICC could change things behind the community's back or that ICC did not implement all the changes.

Then the proposal is voted on and if IMC asks for revisions, IMC or ICC will contact the sponsor again to make the necessary changes.

So the sponsor basically just has to check the IIP once more when it is posted on Github, and may be required to look over proposed changes by IMC if it comes to that. 👍

I saw this late unfortunately.

So, we will need an Illuvial for each skin and that skin can only be used once to make one piece of Armour?

The old way, at keast how I understood it. we would have needed one Illuvial to make a skin which could have produced unlimited Armour of that
specific type.

This will increase the number of Illuvials burned but it will also make rare Illuvial Armour extremely high priced.. I'm not saying that is necessarily bad but are we happy that each piece of Armour is going to be at minimum, the floor cost of that specific Illuvial plus our fees (whatever they end up being)?
