#Illuvium TCG, Ideal for Late 2025 Development?

Disclaimer: I have seen (and agree with) overwhelming support for focusing on the existing 4 games for the time being. This is just a post to gauge sentiment and get feedback for down the line.

I've seen Discord & AMA discussions for a battle royal to be developed in Illuvium. While I am a fan of this because BR's are so popular in Web3 and ILV has potential to add a unique spin with illuvial summons/spawns, it is also very saturated.

I think Illuvium should consider building a TCG sooner than later for the following reasons:

  1. It could add value/utility to Illuvials and possibly to Beyond (CCG) holders depending on how the game is structured. Beyond has also proven that the fanbase has an interest in pack opening.

  2. Web3 has already seen success with TCG's, so the ecosystem is familiar with and accepting of them.

  3. Web2 TCG's have terrible animations and lackluster graphics (even Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel for some reason hasn't realized the 3D holograms from the TV show, which seems like such a missed opportunity). If Illuvium has one thing naturally marketable through word of mouth, it's their stunning graphics and animations. This could be a great chance for Illuvium to shine in a Web2 scene and bring the masses into the ecosystem.

  4. A lot of the team's experience revolves somewhat around card development as seen in Arena (turn-based gameplay mechanics, balancing) and Beyond (card development, card collecting, unique art style). I think they would excel at building a TCG.

  5. Crypto users and gamers both seem to particularly love to look ahead at what's coming next. Advertising that a TCG and BR are being worked on while promoting the existing games may help to have people jump into OW and Arena in anticipation.

I'm not sure that a lot of resources would need to be taken to do this either. It could likely be developed alongside a battle royal once the initial set of games have been developed and further established.

Thoughts?

My opinion, I will vote for this after the team succeeds at making 1 fun and engaging game out of the 3 or 4 existent ones. So far these are only pretty and they work. Which is a lot, but not enough to develop a card game

I also agree that a TCG appears to be the most natural step forward.

Although I do love the idea of a Battl Royale, I play them almost daily. I think it would be an enormous up hill battle to try and take market share from the established titles.

As you stated, TCG's are proven to be popular and successful in the web 3 space and I believe that what Illluvium is capable of producing could blow the competition out of the water.
Definitely appears like low hanging fruit in comparison.

If it was mobile friendly, had a heavy focus on the free to play aspect, along with paid elements adding to immersiveness through enhanced animations, play mat skins and various other cosmetics, I think it could not only be a large driver of revenue and adoption, but also player retention, while fostering huge utility for assets from the other titles if incorporated skillfully.

Good point a TCG would be mobile friendly. I think if done right as you said with a f2p friendly aspect, great animations, cosmetics, there is a lot of potential for revenue and fun. I think a TCG where the blue eyes white dragon/charizard is legitimately rare and not seen constantly makes things very interesting, it would also add motivation to hunt in OW for that rare card/illuvial. Also helps potentially mitigate OTK decks which other games face (it broke Master Duel IMO). Special effect illuvials I can only imagine what the team would come up with.
