#A modification to Ranked for matching players with no, average or high stat Illuvials in one queue

It would use tickets as entry fee for those who don’t own Illuvials. Tickets can be earned from game play or bought etc.

All Illuvial levels and stats are standardized at beginning.

When you own an Illuvial you can upgrade from standard stats/levels to its stats/levels during game play. This gives the opponent credits in equivalent amount to perform their own Illuvial upgrades, even if they don’t own the Illuvial. They can also use the credits for augments or save them for the next battle etc.

The winner gets the tickets plus ILV reward points, if they owned Illuvials and used them during gameplay. Basically credits generated from using owned Illuvials converted into ILV points.

Non-owner winners only get their ticket back and possibly the tickets from the other non-owner opponent. They can then sell the tickets or use them for the next battle.

This encourages owning Illuvials with good stats and levels, while still creating a level playing field for those without Illuvials or low stats/level Illuvials.

We can therefore match players ranging from owning 0 Illuvials to those with all perfect stats/level Illuvials and those who don't own Illuvials enjoy the nice temporary credits during their gameplay.

This gives Illuvials with not so perfect power much needed utility and makes gameplay way more interesting for Ranked players.

F2P players can play Ranked and experience the benefits from ownership just by playing against someone who owns (because they get credits).

It also encourages levelling up your Illuvials and adding more and more to your Illuvial set. It basically fills the huge gap between owning nothing and a full set of perfect Illuvials.

Is this the same idea from yesterday?

It is about actually using stats/levels in Arena. The separate stats gained through experience will be a separate thread.

I want to add that this should work for Gauntlet and Ascendant.

This actually means the better your Illuvials stats, the more credits and ILV you get. So there is an incentive to have the best stats Illuvials. You convert money spent on Illuvials with your one time NFT purchase into ILV points with every win.

Basically credits generated from using owned Illuvials converted into ILV points.

Another benefit: We can bring all players from non-ownership, 1 cheap Illuvial, a set of average stats and perfect stats players into one game mode and one leaderboard.

Skill determines the game play, but money invested into Illuvials determines the price.

A marriage of web3 and web2.

A modification to Leviathan to allow anyone to play

#

I would argue that it is just a modification to Ranked, not a new game mode.

We can keep Leviathan as is and just modify the existing Ranked mode.

The problem with a normal ranked matching system:

It divides the player base into many subdivisions that cannot be queued up against and even inside those subcategories especially mainstream gamers will complain, that those with better Illuvials have better chances. This is not fair skill based game play.

#

With my proposal there is still demand for high stats Illuivals, it just raises the demand for not so perfect Illuvials and increases the player base. It does not lower the demand for high stats Illuvials and if we want to encourage buying perfect stats Illuvials, we can assign higher ILV point reward percentages to high stats.

Sorry for tagging you @winter needle. Do you think this is possible ?

This isn't P2W, but OwnToEarn without affecting game play fairness.

Leviathan is the only game mode in which Illuvial ownership and Illuvial level/stats matter. It is meant to drive the value and demand for good Illuvials, but the high entry cost will encourage lending to pro TFT players and will therefore fail to bring in new Illuvial buyers.

Casual game modes encourage buying of Illuvials as cosmetics, but Illuvial stats and levels won’t matter at all.

Ranked modes honor levels, but not stats. A first time Illuvial buyer has almost no advantage in ranked modes or at least will never know, if the owned Illuvial actually mattered. With the proposed modification this buyer knows that the owned Illuvial didn’t affect game play (is fair between all players), but in the ILV points rewards calculation at the end of the battle the boost from the owned Illuvial is readily visible.

Ownership of Illuvials and the importance of leveling up therefore becomes transparent and encourages Illuvial ownership and further investments

Since Ranked mode would be completely skill based with this modification we can use it for e-sports.
