Because it would be super exciting!

Imagine if 1 out of 10,000 illuvitars is dark holo, only real collectors or insanely lucky people would get one which would give insane bragging rights

Each time I will open a d1sk I will think "what if...", it's already the case now but a dark holo is so visual, so obvious and so rare that it would be more exciting than getting a T5S3 in my opinion

100% support this, although I do recall someone from the team mentioning that the art work doesn't display too well in that medium. That was a long time ago now, maybe things have changed.

Great idea, even if i know i'll never get one with my luck 😒

That would be so cool!

This would mean introducing power creep to previous illuvitars. And there would be no dark holos from the earlier waves. Not really a fan of this.

#

Not to mention that the misprint auction would have to account for all the dark holos as well.

these are the only 'perfect' illuvitars that exist. Meaning rarest background, rarest expression and holo.
do we really need another rarity layer?

T5S3 rare expression holo illuvitars

#

notice how in both of these examples there are no wave 2 illuvitars.

#

IMO we don't need more rarities. These are already extremely rare.

It's not so much rarity but desirability. Pull rates could always be adjusted to accomodate.
We also didn't see many rare wave 2 pulls as the incentives for purchasing standard disks over mega disks we're way out of proportion, making quality pulls out of proportion with it. This was due to it being far more difficult to pull this level of illuvitar out of a standard disk.

In all honesty I don't know how we would even do a Dark Holo finish in a way that is distinguishable enough from regular holo to be worth it. There's different variables and limitations with a 2D illustration compared to an in game 3D model. Especially in something that has to be standardised as a post-process across all Illuvitars (It isn't feasible to completely repaint each portrait and expression from scratch to get a finish to look correct, so it has to be something we do to the finished portraits afterwards)
I think if there's a real desire from people for another 'rarer' finish we'd need to come up with something else.
