I just read through the blog and it feels really good to see such a response from the development team. It was really hard to understand what was going on especially after the Open Beta launch and this post really helped to fill in the gaps. It's good to see where the team stands, how things are going, acknowledgements of both the positive and negative results, and to humanize the development team.
One thing I want to say to the team is don't let your perfectionism be your enemy. There will never be 100% perfect and it can be quite demoralizing to work so hard on something and never feel fulfilled by it. It's very possible to do your best, to feel good about good enough, and yet still strive for better. Please remember that the nature of this project is a marathon with no finish line, so it's that much more important to find fulfillment in the process.
Second is it's much easier to walk in the paths carved by giants than to try and carve a new one from nothing. Despite whatever lack of experience there may be, there are many ways to draw on what has worked in the industry to give a strong direction that cuts out a lot of the conceptual work. Otherwise you could spend a lifetime trying to travel all across the world just to get to a place that was right next to where you started.
