#I really hope the skins/blueprint system is a placeholder

"I can’t stop imagining the faces of web2 normies when they realize they have to buy a different skin for each armor type and each stage of the armor. This is insane. It’s honestly the worst cosmetic system I’ve seen in a video game. Just copy the Fortnite system—it's simple, not confusing, and effective. One-time purchase, and they can use it on every armor type.

If you want to add value to landholders and blueprints, create skin variants based on the same Illuvial. For example, one skin blueprint for Archeleon could have leaves and FX effects on the shoulder pads, while another has a leaf tomahawk on the helmet, and so on."

It seems to be that you can use the Same skin for all stages of the suit.

I actually agree... I think there are currently too many combinations and we should aim to get a more simple model for the armor skins.

You will end up with 18 different "suit lines" for each Illuvial.
You can make 3 different stages of the skin for each illuvial. (which are visually different), which I do think is pretty cool. But if you buy a skin and can only use it on your "AeroWeave armor" and nothing else, I am not sure that is the best solution, and will just be another area where we ended up complicating it too much, for no real reason other than trying to make the blueprints as unique as possible.

Might have been better with no suit lines at all, or if we do want to use that concept, maybe make it 3 different lines instead.

Totally agree, horrible cosmetic system. Not to mention you can craft limitless skins from 1 BP which also makes that BP worthless once there are 2 minted because of infinite supply.

# daring cloud No sweat! It's been rehashed many many many times! Unlimited skins from 1 BP w...

Also add that the illuvials will no longer be available at some stage and the only place you get them is the market. so your one blueprint may become sought after. I think it will be okay.
Illuvum as I see it, is simply trying a different way.
If you took a Normie in game economy it would be the same. I can't tell you how many different skins and outfits I have in different games. Sort of an answer for you and the other guy 😁

I think this is a great question to ask at the next AMA.

We have however seen what happened to the current bps. That is "infinite" offer at the minting cost prices. Hell I'll even mint any skin for free to anyone who asks for one if they pay for minting costs

Looking forward to the next ama

# vague agate Again I hope you are right. Sorry for the pessimism

It's okay. I get pessimistic too. There are things I'd like to see done a little differently and I'd like to know how blueprints are going to work. It's easy to carred away with this feeling.
It's kind of like the wolf you feed .. in essence I'm seeing the system work, probably a few tweaks here and there, yet I do not possess the knowledge or skills to know what exactly.

I think it is a quirky system. The design is to make it hard to get high quality stage 3 BPs, which ultimately should hold the most value. It's a cool idea, and there's merit to it, but:

  • As a player it is kinda overwhelming. If I want a blue skin, do I really care if it's Atlas or Axon? 🤷‍♂️
  • For dev, it seems like a lot of distinct assets to need to support.

Its already a bit overwhelming, with more than 400 different skins…. But if each of them is also only usable for one of 18 different suit lines, I think this will make it way too complicated… there is also bound to be someone buying an expensive skin thinking he can use it for all his armor, which will lead to bad experience.

Personally… If I am going buy a cool skin, and had to choose for which skin line, I would probably only get it for one of the armor I would use the most, likely a T5, and not bother to get it for the other types.. and I would not get that many different skins…. But If I could use the skins for all my armor, I would probably get a few different ones. In the end buying more as they would have more value for me.
