Simple Summary:
This proposal suggests removing the current bonus fuel system from IIP-39. The change aims to improve market transparency, stabilize fuel prices, and enhance the user experience by providing a clearer and more predictable marketplace for fuel trading.

I'm not advocating for the current system exactly as it exists now, but do we really feel this solution is the best path foward to be positioned to onboard players?

The order book system described (User Interface Improvements: The fuel exchange interface will be redesigned to clearly display the order book, bids, asks, fuel price history and recent trades, providing players with a comprehensive view of market activity.) is essentially going to look like a CEX for players. That's great for our current audience, but it's less great if we want to prioritize ease of use and onboarding. It's extra learning required to play.

I absolutely agree that there's a lack of clarity with the current bonus system, and players should see exactly what they are receiving when purchasing Fuel.

Maybe an advanced mode that can be toggled on for experienced users would make more sense, which would give direct access to view the things specified by this proposal (ex. bids, asks, price history, recent trades, limit/market orders), while the default view remains relatively simple and easy to use.

Some of the rationale for this proposal are incorrect from a new player perspective. I don't think a comprehensive order book as the default and only way to engage with paid gameplay will ease Market Confusion or User Experience, at least not for all players. It also seems like a stretch to assume that this will reduce price fluctuations. It could change player behavior by giving individuals more information, but whether or not that reduces volatility isn't something sufficiently justified or explained in the proposal.

The most core principle we should look to is whether or not we're making it easy for people to spend money. Every time there's a roadblock, or confusion, or a learning curve, a segment of potential customers will drop out of the payment flow. This removes one point of confusion, but it replaces it with a learning curve that most players will not be familiar with.

TL;DR: I think this would be best served as an advanced mode setting the player can choose than as the default solution. Coupled with a clearer default view of what the player will receive when buying Fuel seems like it would satisfy both experienced and new players.

Agree with this needs to be an Orderboook mode and a Web 2 mode however that looks 😉 ...was gonna call it dumb'd down mode but decided to mederate myself
