Exciting Tournament Events for Increased Player Engagement

This proposal outlines a dynamic and engaging system of events and tournaments designed to captivate players, boost in-game activity, and enhance overall enjoyment.

Concept Overview

Gacha games like Raid: Shadow Legends have successfully harnessed the power of competitive events to engage players, especially high-spending "whales," while also rewarding lower-tier players based on their performance. By implementing a similar approach, we can create a series of tournaments and events that drive both engagement and revenue across all player tiers.

Event Structure

Tournaments:

  • Frequency: Tournaments will be held regularly, with varying durations of 24, 48, or 72 hours. These can be standalone weekend events or part of a larger recurring schedule (e.g., every 7 or 10 days).
  • Participants: Each player will be randomly assigned to a tournament group with 99 other players, creating a competitive yet intimate environment.
  • Rewards:
    • Top 10 players will receive rewards, with increasingly valuable prizes for the top 3, and the ultimate reward for the 1st place winner.

Pre-Event Alerts:

  • Players will be notified days in advance of upcoming events, creating anticipation and allowing them to prepare. Regular scheduling will help players plan their participation.

Sample Tournament Ideas

  1. Experience Tournament:

    • Objective: Earn the most experience for your Illuvials.
    • Strategy: Players will be encouraged to engage in more hunts, battles, and mushroom runs to rise in the rankings.
  2. Illuvial Capture Tournament:

    • Objective: Capture as many high-tier Illuvials as possible.
    • Scoring:
      • Tier 0: 0 points
      • Tier 1: 10 points
      • Tier 2: 30 points
      • Tier 3: 50 points
      • Tier 4: 100 points
      • Tier 5: 200 points
    • Note: The point values are adjustable based on balancing needs.
  3. Crafting Tournament:

    • Objective: Craft items and shards to earn points.
    • Scoring: Points are awarded based on the amount of Fuel used.
      • Example: 5 Solon used for low-tier armor grants 1 point, while 50 Solon grants 10 points.
  4. Fusion Tournament:

    • Objective: Fuse Illuvials to create more powerful entities.
    • Scoring: Points are awarded based on the difficulty and tier of the fusion.
      • Example: Tier 1 to Tier 2 fusion grants fewer points than Tier 3 to Tier 4 fusion. Also stage 1 to stage 3

Event Synergy

To maximize engagement, some tournaments can overlap:

  • For example, an Experience Tournament might run from September 12, 2024, to September 14, 2024, while a Fusion Tournament could start on September 13, 2024, and end on September 15, 2024. This overlap creates a 24-hour window where players can earn points in both events simultaneously, increasing the intensity and strategic planning required.

Conclusion

These proposed events and tournaments are designed to not only increase player activity but also to create a sense of urgency and excitement. By rewarding strategic play and consistent engagement, we can foster a more dedicated player base, driving both retention and revenue.
