We are going to need Multiplayer for this, can be 6-12 months from now or any timeline that works.
The Guild Wars event will be throughout Overworld, Arena and Zero - IBG style 🤙.

As we saw from the trailer and tutorial lore, the planet is hostile. There is something lurking in the dark.

We have detected dimensional instability throughout our Regions. Something doesn't like us being here. The Leviathan scientists have came up with a plan to deploy 3 Pylons on each region, in order to stabilize the area and prevent a catastrophe that would probably kill everyone and remove any chance of leaving the planet

1st stage - Overworld. Random portals throughout each region appear, spawning Nightmare Illuvials going straight for our Pylons. They want them gone. The Nightmare Illuvials are tanky, move fast and run straight towards each Pylon, trying to destroy it. They will spawn in waves, each time increasing their number and strength. It can take 1-3 players attacking a single one, in order to defeat it before it reaches the Pylon. However Pylons should be under attack at a certain point, so it should be rather hard stopping every single one of them. Upon 100-0ing them, 1 player goes into arena to finish the job, the others help their War Party. We can repair the Pylons by infusing them with OW ores, higher tier/amount repairs higher % of HP. After defeating a Nightmare Illuvial, it will require a certain amount of energy to enter the arena mode and defeat it for good. That energy can be drawn from a pool for the whole party. Meaning, guilds participating in the event, must stockpile Fuel to defeat all the waves, and ores to repair the Pylon. Upon defeating the final wave in a Region, it stabilizes ->Stage2

2nd stage - Illuvium Zero. Only guilds that cleared stage 1 can participate here. After defeating the last wave, a huge boss spawns in the respective region in Illuvium Zero. We should be able to zoom out to the whole region by then and see where our land is located in that region. The boss would spawn in a random location. Each guild city sends their army chariot forward, attacking the boss, distance and time to reach will depend on location. We will use tens/hundreds of Illuvials packed into a chariot and not all of them are going to make it back. The boss will be insanely strong, our goal here is not to defeat it but to lower it's HP with our attacks. Each land will be able to send 1 chariot forward, which can be packed with other guild members' illuvials, or illuvials already bought and stockpiled for this reason. Upon fighting the boss and unable to defeat it, our chariot goes back and all illuvials are "wounded". A new Zero building, Infirmary, will be able to heal the wounded illuvials over a certain amount of time (can be sped up with credits), during which we can send the chariot back with a fresh squad of illuvials. Upon reaching the Infirmary's capacity, any illuvials hurt by the boss encounter will perish, unable to be recovered (burned). ILVZ f2p players/guild members can participate here by providing a staging point for attacks (their chariot) and also by healing wounded illuvials for the entire guild. The boss will be under attack from multiple guilds, the guild who did the most damage from the overall health pool, wins the event/region)->Stage3

3rd stage - Arena. After the first 2 tough battles, it's time to collect our personal rewards. It can be a simple 1-10 wave encounter, of Nightmare Illuvials or a new type, like boss Heralds. Upon defeating wave 10, you enter the boss encounter with whatever illuvials that survived the previous wave. The boss was already weakened in stage 2, so it spawns with 1% hp in this stage. It should be hard to defeat, but not super hard as this is supposed to be a more chill/reward phase. Upon defeating the boss, the player receives their boss loot. Can be legendary skins (different drop rates for different tiers), legendary gear, rare crafting materials, battleboards and so on.

The guild that deals the most amount of damage to the boss in Stage 2 (thus sacrificing the most resources like illuvials and credits) wins the Region. They now have control over it until the next event.

The rewards here need to be epic and up for discussion, I'm not sure what's possible and what not. Can be:

  • 0.5% royalties from NFTs captured within a region a guild controls. Can be added ontop of the current 5% fee, not to hurt revdis. It is then up to the guild master how he will distribute this to his members, can be also used for the next event's War Chest.

  • Guild branded battleboards

  • Guild perks for guild members within a region they control, for example 200 additional energy per run, 5-10% reduced mining costs etc.

Players who are part of the winning guild will receive both personal rewards from clearing stage 3 and guild rewards. The latter, depending on what we can do, can be distributed by the guild master to each member based on event performance, or whatever internal structure they have built. Bad actors will lose members quick. And you need them, both paid and f2p. For players/guilds that did not win the stage 2 Zero encounter but still participated in the event, will only get the personal boss loot from stage 3 Arena.

To summarize:

The event is in line with the team's IBG vision, to my knowledge first of its kind, that span over 3 different games. Besides the fun and entertaining factor taking part it in, it will achieve:

  1. Illuvial burn mechanism. Once Zero players' Infirmaries are full, any encounter with the boss destroys the illuvials in the chariot/vehicle. Our goal is to deal as much damage to it as possible. Guilds will begin to stockpile floor illuvials for their War Chest in preparation for the event. The amount of damage and units lost to defeat the boss, and also the event's frequency, can be designed based on what % of floor illuvials we want to burn.

  2. Revenue boost:

  • Stage 1 will require stockpiling on fuel for your entire war party, each wave requiring a certain amount of energy to clear. Can be either a default amount or random.
  • Stage 1 will require stockpiling on crafting materials/ore to repair the Pylon
  • Credits burn in Zero for speeding up your chariot, speeding up the healing in your Infirmaries so your guild doesn't lose as many troops.
  1. Provide opportunity for players to engage with each other on different games/platforms. Gives purpose to Zero f2p, which can be further expanded upon. Makes guild vs guild a thing, incentivizing building strong communities.

I tried to compress it as much as I can, any feedback is welcome

@outer spade would something like this be possible?

Anything is possible but some things are further away than others.

I will let other decide. Sorry I just can't properly consider so many things when I've got so much else going on. So my answer is: I don't know.

For the record I do love cool new ideas. But right now the vast majority of our work is around stability, polish, and getting in promised features.

#

I get people in chat that ping me, and then ping me 1 h later saying 'why isn't it done yet'. I mean. we aren't super human.

Would the community be interested in such an event? Is it a good/bad idea? Or is it written too long and complicated?

It's a combination of several different things I've seen work in different type of games, combined into a single event for us. Attacks different problems we currently have, also implementation shouldnt be that complex.

Any feedback is welcome

Although we need to stress the timeline might not be any time soon for this sort of idea I love this concept on the whole. Especially the idea of a fun co-op game in the Illuvium Overworld with leaderboards and achievements etc that incentivises Illuvial utility. The Zero one seems super cool too and the Arena one looks kinda boring as you've laid out here.

But the idea of 3 concurrent game events all tied together is awesome in itself, even something like people doing well in Zero, makes the enemy easier in the Overworld and so on.

Ideally the first thing would be to develop these 'games' on their own first before making some large scale event, starting with Co-Op Overworld Helldivers style gameplay.

A lot of infrastructure needs to be finished first, like multiplayer and ow combat, so the timeline would be up to the team.

The overworld stage can be improved overtime, as combat gets better. Like you mentioned the event adds a ton of utility for illuvials and incentives to grind the ow in preparation for the event.

The Zero stage can be quite fun too. People who played mobile castle fight games such as state of survival, clash of clans, etc know how much credits are used during such events, for buffs, speed ups etc. Speeding up your chariots is a thing and people absolutely go ballistic spending during such events.

If we ever choose to offer a free to play experience, the f2p illuvials can be also used here. Will be quite weaker as a chariot unit compared to the nft version, but can give reason and purpose for f2p players to participate and contribute as well, as an idea if we ever go that route.

The infrastructure built around this can be used for further ibg events between our games. Overall I think an event like this adds alot of substance to our universe while also being very healthy for the economy. The whales and even normal players go crazy during such events, for the rewards, for the bragging rights, everyone has their thing.

Love the idea but I would adjust the rewards a little. Just have a set reward pool and the guilds get a share of their contribution in stage 2. Otherwise everybody will be in one guild and others wouldn't see any reason to play stage 2 at all. Really love the burning mechanism because bad low tier Illuvials dont have any sort of use

Having the three games connected this way would be awesome

Hey Ligyron. The rewards are totally up for discussion, I just provided some examples that came to mind.

Regarding everyone joining a super guild, I think if we cap the regions a guild can hold to 1-3, it will somewhat prevent it and we will have multiple guilds competing for a region.

Like you mentioned, the illuvial burn will be quite handy once we have a bigger playerbase, we will be flooded with more and more low stat useless illuvials. The rate of burn can be adjusted by the team, based on the state of the economy, and different type of bosses can be used for that purpose.

Also provides common goal for both f2p and paid players which in my opinion is the best option, rather than these groups competing against each other. Very healthy for the community and also for the economy.
