The effort put into and the quality of the trailer and Overworld (OW) experience is amazing, but as a new user, having to go through 30 minutes of cinematic plus the OW intro is a significant barrier.

Most of us here, including myself, are Illuvium maxis who love the ecosystem loop and play all three games, so it's fine for us. However, the people we want to bring in are TFT and TCG web2 players.

Our game is Arena; the OW is the pack opening. We can't make a TFT player go through an OW tutorial when they open the game. We have to make it as easy as possible for people to come and play Arena straight away. A percentage of our player base will be interested in having assets to compete in the competitive modes of Arena &/or having skins to show off. Those will be the ones interested in opening loot boxes in the OW.

We have to sell the game before the pack opening, not the other way around.

I get that at launch it was fun to have the cinematic, but I think we should remove this from in-game and only put the OW tutorial when you click on OW.

Thought the same when started the game.

yeah i agree, just give the option to play the tutorial or skip it and get instantly into the main menu

Holding space allows you to skip the trailer. But having that option popup at the start could be a QoL feature.

Very much agree with this.. new people wont grind to find a good deck without having tried the game first get them hooked on arena/gauntlet and then let them explore overworld

To be honest the fix for this is pretty simple, just make it possible to skip tutorial and/or cinematic. Then everyone can decide for themselves what they want to do. I think most people will want to do the tutorial and see the cinematic the first time, but for those who don't want it, it should be easy to skip.

I was going to suggest a separate client just for gauntlet/arena, and if the player clicks on overworld, it prompts an update to the full game and then plays the trailer and tutorial. But it sounds like too much work for the moment

Also, make the cinematic optional and go straight to skill test for returning players

It does allow you to hold Space to skip the cinematic if you want to. I would say this experience was in-line with other AAA games that have cinematic intro/tutorials, but I get the point as it relates to people that may only be coming for Gauntlet for example. It would be a QoL improvement to make it clearer you can skip the cinematic and tutorial and go straight to main menu, or have a pop up that just asks which experience you want to have (full experience, straight to Arena, etc)
