I've been seeing a large amount of feedback both on discord and X on current pain points in the overworld. Particularly centered around costs and the constant transactions that occur while playing, especially for parts that are less enjoyable gameplay wise / are grindy such as harvesting and mining.
For example I went to forge a drone component that required a certain high tier essence. I spent 17 dollars to travel to a stage and shoot plants, thinking that with every shot that 0.40c was disappearing from my wallet. Both my ergon and mental energy was gone within about 10minutes and the will of myself or my wallet to continue faded into the void.
Would you play the overworld if it was just the battles/capturing ? I sure would. This is a creature capturer and illuvials are at the heart of illuvium.
Would you play the overworld if it was just rock and plant harvesting? I would not. and I feel like technically paying for each individual plant or rock harvested creates this pain point.
Solution: Remove the cost of energy from haverstables/mining.
This would mean you pay your set travel fee. You go into the region and you do your battles, still limited to capturing 3-4 illuvials of your choice. You also spend the time searching and harvesting all the ores and plants you can to make full use of the cost of your run, stretching your play time for run to 30mins - 1hour.
This would obviously require some spawn changes to plants and ores, or if there was concern that reducing these might make the world feel less alive - increase the materials needed for different forging.
Would be interested to hear how the rest of the community feels about this idea / if they've felt the same pain points on costs
