Bad stats were one of the reasons I came up with a way to improve them through nurture and training.

Illuvipets would offer a way for people to improve their beloved Illuvials and bond more with them at the same time. Also it could a service that people provide to improve the stats of a specific Illuvials from other people, adding overall features that would make it a more holistic Illuvium experience, in my opinion.

The screenshots are from pages 34-38 of the Illuvipets PDF.

Illuvial training is a way better response to rerolling

However I think instead it should be a Nintendogs/Neopets/Tamagotchi style game where you take care of Tier 1 Illuvials allowing them to train up particular stats.
(A basic mobile game that can keep players hooked)

-Food Can be crafted with the abundant plants found in the overworld allowing you to customize each illuvial with elemental and dietary needs being met.

-Training Uses energy that is gained by food to be able to train different stats individually by either playing a minigame or some training animation.

-Petting/Playing Allows the player to pet, and play with the illuvials giving each of them individual personalities to increase the lore and lovability of the Illuvials.

-Limitations I believe that you should never be able to train your way to maximum stat values (that weren't already innately given to the Illuvial), giving illuvials with maximum stats still first need to be found in the wild. (this allows maxed stated t3's to still be quite valuable since it needs to be completely caught all the way up.

Some of these ideas can be tied down with Zero, unless there is a proffesions system like Herbalist.

Ideas can be explored on different foods that give different stats or temporary boosts.

With Zero planned for Wild Plants farming and creating dyes from plants.

Also explore ideas of Pets getting hungry/not being taken care which leads to a decline in health or themselves going back into the wild (owner has been inactive or hasnt put them in a storage).

Would be interesting if players can choose to put their pets in a storage to be taken care for a cheap price so that even if the owner goes AFK for months, their decline is very slow and they are maintained healthy.

I don't think they should ever go back to the wild, because paying real money for something that might run away sounds like a bad business model

Love the idea of training routine instead of rerolls. Feed them the damned bugs! I hate those things. Maybe also make the morphopods scream a little more when you shoot the annoying things.

These are cool and all, but we still have a lot of work to do in getting the core features stable. Asking for another mini game is, in my opinion, a bit much for right now.
